What is the credit for Amex Clear Plus?
Clear Plus is a third-party expedited security program that uses IRIS and fingerprint scanners instead of photo IDs to identify you. If you have a clear membership, you can effectively jump to the front of the safety line at certain airports and entertainment venues across the country.
In fact, you enter a dedicated security checkpoint lane and enter biometric data into the kiosk. You will then move to the airport’s grey carry-on bin. Even better: If you have TSA Precheck, you can still use that option.
A clear membership for a year is usually costing $209. convenient, Amex Commercial PlatinumHilton Honors Aspire and Amex Green each calendar year have clear and declared credits of up to $209.
As of the time of publication, American Express Platinum Card® Offers clear plus declared credits up to $199 (this is a previous fee for explicit plus membership before the charges are charged on July 1). Registration is required. The terms apply.
You can use Clear Plus credit yourself, or, if you already have a membership, you can extend this benefit to friends or family.

How to use Amex Clear Plus Credit
You have to register your card to make this statement to activate, but the process is simple.
First, log in to your US Express account and select your AMEX with a clear plus benefit (if not the default card). At the top, click the Rewards and Benefits icon.
On the next screen, click “Benefits” in the upper right corner. This will bring you to a page, each explaining the different privileges of your card. Find the one marked “Clear Plus Credit” and note your status. If you are registered, you can use the allowance. Otherwise, click the icon to activate the earnings.
After registering an AMEX card, you can apply for Clear Plus membership online. Consider registering through Delta, United or Alaska Airlines link. If you are a member of one (or more) of these airline loyalty programs and want to save on your membership, this is a key step.
This is because Delta Skymiles, United Mileageplus and Alaska Airlines Lireage Plan members can sign up for a clear discount membership – from $10 off to a completely free membership depending on your status level and the credit card you have:
- General members of these programs: $199 per year.
- Qualified Delta Airlines and United Airlines credit card holders: $169.
- Delta Silver, Gold and Platinum Medallion® Members: $169 per year.
- United Prime Minister Silver, Gold and Platinum Members: $169 per year.
- United Prime Minister 1K Members: $129 per year.
- Delta Diamond Medal and 360º Members: Free membership.
- United Prime Minister 1K and Global Services Members: Free membership.
Alaska Airlines’ mileage program can earn more miles when signing up for Clear Plus. MVP, MVP Gold, MVP Gold 75K and MVP Gold 100K members receive 1,500 miles when registered, with an additional 1,250 miles renewal each year.
Children under the age of 18 can accompany registered adults for free, meaning your family can be free or close to the program when combining Amex Perks and Clear Plus Plus discounts. The cost of adding family members aged 18 and over is $125 per person, with a maximum of three family members.
Regardless of how you apply for Clear Plus, you must use a registered AMEX card to pay for membership (and your family membership fees (if applicable). AMEX noted that the statement should appear within two to four weeks, but TPG staff found it usually triggered within one or two days. Of course, your results may vary.

FAQs in Amex Clear Plus Credit
Where does Clear Plus run?
Clear Plus is far from universal, but it continues to expand to new attractions. Currently, you can find dedicated driveways at over 55 U.S. airports and nearly 20 entertainment venues, including Yankee Stadium and Madison Square Garden in New York City (see all locations).
However, if you don’t think you’ll be traveling through these airports or visiting these venues regularly, this benefit may not be a very valuable thing to you.
Can I get TSA Precheck/Global Grout and Clear Plus?
You can-you should. These trusted traveler plans meet completely different needs:
- Clear Plus allows you to effectively cut lines at airport security checkpoints.
- TSA Precheck allows you to keep your shoes, belts and jackets while passing through the TSA metal detector. You can also keep your laptop and TSA-compliant toiletries in a carry-on bag.

Typically, the cost of registering both programs is at least $287. Here is $209 for Clear Plus, TSA Precheck $78. Depending on where you attend TSA Precheck, your costs may be higher.

Can I use Clear Plus Credit for friends and family?
Yes. You don’t have to use it for your own membership; it can be given to anyone. As long as you sign up for a qualified AMEX card and then use it to pay clear payments, you will receive up to $209 in each calendar year, depending on the AMEX product you hold. remember Amex Platinum Only clear membership coverage is $199.
When you add family members to your account, they will receive full clear plus membership. They don’t need to travel with you to take advantage of their benefits.
Can I use credit to purchase clear gift cards?
Unfortunately, no. Clear Plus Gift Cards are processed by a third party called Egifter. In other words, your Amex doesn’t treat it as an explicit purchase, so the credit doesn’t trigger.
However, it’s a great way to give someone a clear membership while saving a clear credit for yourself.
Is this the only way to get a clear discount plus membership?
As mentioned earlier, Clear Plus can be saved with two major airline loyalty programs.
An important clarification: If you have an AMEX with a clear interest, please do not charge your Delta or United Card a clear membership fee. While becoming a cardholder will unlock the discount price, you must use a qualified AMEX card to trigger clear credit.
Do I have to use clear and credit at once?
You do not have to redeem a declared credit for $209 in one go. It will be activated every time you settle plus payment – up to $209 per calendar year. This is convenient if you qualify for discounts on any of the above methods. This way you can pay for members and then add family members (multiple if you have top-level status in Delta or United).
How do I complete the enrollment?
Unfortunately, paying your AMEX a clear membership fee to trigger a statement credit is only the first step in admission. Once the information is submitted online, you must complete the process at a clear Plus airport location. Bring your government-issued ID card, such as a driver’s license or passport.
Representatives will scan your eyes and fingerprints. You will then go all out to use enhanced safety on your flight.

Clear Plus doesn’t have the attention of other traveler programs like TSA Precheck and Global Groute, but it can extend the safe wait time for the airport for lifeguards. It’s easy to unlock free membership with popular travel credit cards.
