Christina Bothwell invades the world of dreams in surreal glass and ceramic sculptures – Huge

In the wonderful sculptures of Christina Bothwell, young and mysterious figures of glass and ceramics appear (previously). Animals and children form the main focus of the artist, usually decorated with painted flowers, located in shells or enclosed in bird cages. Her husband and collaborator Robert Bender often adds wood elements like wood deer or spider-like legs. These fragments are tender and occasionally disturbing, suggesting surreal things in dreams, memories and spiritual worlds.

Boswell’s solo exhibition, Screen memoryjust opened at the Robert Lehman Gallery in Urbananglass. The show, on display by Heller Gallery, brings together a wide variety of new works and lasts until September 12 in New York City. Find more information on the artist’s website and on Instagram.
