Denver International Airport opens new TSA checkpoint

Denver International Airport (DEN) is climbing the level to become one of the busiest airports in the world – as part of it, the airport is modernizing its security experience.
On Tuesday, the Airport and Transportation Safety Administration formally opened the Eastern Security Checkpoint, which consists of 17 new screening lanes on level 6 on the east side of the hall.
The new East Security Checkpoint mimics the Western security checkpoint that opened last year and replaces the southern security checkpoint that closed Tuesday along with the opening.
The Eastern Safety Screening Lane will be open from 3 a.m. to 1 a.m. the next day.

Both the Eastern and Western Safety Zones offer three different entrances, depending on the type of ticket you have and the security plan you are:
- Entrance 1 is open to standard screening passengers.
- Portal 2 is suitable for those who do not have the energy security and clarity of TSA Precheck.
- Entrance 3 is suitable for passengers of TSA Precheck.
If you are getting off at the airport and want to use East Security Checkpoint, look for doors from 601 to 605, and TSA Precheck accesses the closest doors from 601 and 603.
The bridge is reopened
While more advanced screening capabilities are always good news, perhaps the most exciting change is that the bridge at Denver Hall A is also reopening, as part of this shift.
This means that after the flyer is clear and safe, they can go directly across the bridge to reach the gate without having to take the underground train. This should alleviate some of the overcrowding we have seen on trains in recent years. This also means travelers looking to take a few more steps or go straight to the Concourse A lounge (including Capital One Lounge) can do so without having to board the train.

Personally, I am a big fan of the steps to collect before a long flight, so even if I still have to get on the train to the B or C gate, you may find me walking on the bridge.
Also, if you arrive at Concourse A, you will be able to cross the bridge and exit in the hall without hopping on the train – meaning that passing through Den will make the selection of flyers cumbersome.

Looking to the future

This is just the latest phase of modernization of Denver Halls, which will be completed by the end of 2027. The next milestone is the opening of eight new standard safety lanes at the northern end of Level 5 in late summer 2026. These new lanes will be located near the international arrivals area, providing a quick transition for international travelers connecting international travelers to return to Concourses.
Other escalators and stairs will also be opened at this time, providing more ways to obtain baggage claims and ground transportation.
