Spirit Airlines adds 2 new Caribbean destinations

Spirit Airlines has set its sights on the Caribbean and Central America through two-way expansion.
Later this year, Florida-based Dania Beach will be home to Belize City, Belize and Grand Cayman in its hometown of Fort Lauderdale.
Services in Belize City will begin every Wednesday at 21 November. Flights will run on Monday, Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, flights to Grand Caymanman depart on December 4, on Wednesdays on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Belize City is a new point on the spiritual roadmap. It represents the airline’s sixth new destination to date in Key West, Florida so far; Macon and Savannah, Georgia; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Columbia, South Carolina.
These additions will expand the base of spirit to peak hours of more than 100 days at Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) and by the end of this year, expanding its base to more than 70 destinations.
Belize City is a brand new spiritual destination, but according to the Cirium schedule, it’s for the April 2020 FLL. Southwest Airlines once operated the route on it and was then cut due to the pandemic and never recovered.
Meanwhile, Spirit’s last flight was between the FLL in Grand Cayman and Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM). According to Cirium, it operated briefly between airports from February 2006 to September 2008.

Since then, Southwest and JetBlue have both flew from FLL to Grand Cayman. JetBlue last flew in April 2022, while the Southwest stopped flying in this market in June last year.

Although the spirit itself has been undergoing a massive business shift in bankruptcy, so are Southwest and JetBlue, which are also the two other major airline competitors in Fort Lauderdale.
Spirits seem to have the opportunity to grow at their home airports to sacrifice the sacrifices of Southwest and Jet Blue, and these new leisure-oriented routes do so. These routes will also attract those based in South Florida, looking for another option to fly American Airlines from Miami International Airport (MIA).
Of course, during peak winter season, three times a weekly schedule runs, these routes are quite low bets for Spirit, but it will certainly be fun to see them perform.
New flights from Spirit are already available for purchase, with the City of Belize priced at $160 and one-way to Grand Cayman $140.
