“There are a pair of glasses, and you want to get rid of this metric, here?” asked a man in a video posted to the Luxe Wrap Stars account. “I have provided you with the perfect solution.” Watched over 2 million times on social media platforms, promoting these so-called “ghost points” videos, at least 500 sets may be sold through Tiktok.
The product listed on the Tiktok store is named “Luxe Ghostdots 4 Meta Glasses” with 20 round vinyl stickers on it, which costs about $15, plus shipping. These lists of “invisible mode” points do not weaken the words about what their designs are going to do. “Use these precisely cut fragments of vinyl dots or dim white recording lamps,” the Tiktok Shop note reads.
To its credit, Meta has a reason to put an indicator light on his glasses. When using a pair of smart glasses, the blocking indicator triggers a message saying that the photo and video features are disabled. Still, users tried various strategies to address this protection and remove light indicators, including drilling into glasses to completely break the internal LED indicator.
Are these stickers actually valid? Tiktok sellers include an instructional video to bypass Meta’s security measures by blocking certain metrics with your hands when connecting stickers. Nevertheless, reviews of the product in the Tiktok store are mostly negative, claiming that the product is not working properly. “It’s so exciting about it, but metaglasses can’t work with it. Still, continue to say they’re locking down…a good idea,” a review from a verified buyer wrote.
Response to another negative review of the product released a few days ago, if the seller encounters problems with the safeguards of Meta smart glasses, the seller encourages the buyer to try other methods. “With the new update, you don’t have to just overwrite the camera lens to bypass the alarm, you have to overwrite the frame on one side of the camera lens,” the seller’s response said.
