In “Bulden Street Chippee” Lucy Sparrow celebrates a British culinary institution – Huge
From fried cod to red Saveloy sausage to chip jam with carbs – a simple sandwich with chunky fries made with butter rolls – Menu Buden Street Chipi Similar to what you expect to see in a traditional British fish and chip shop. The only only difference is that everything from furry eggs to abused black line seats to wall decorations is made of felt, despite the delightful appearance of deep fried snacks and the perfectly formed pie.
Creativity by artist Lucy Sparrow (formerly) Buden Street Chipi It is the latest in a series of well-designed, large-scale, interactive installations that highlight the Quotidian venues we have been visiting, such as supermarkets, pharmacies and Bodigas, but rarely comes to mind a lot in an aesthetic way. Made of soft fiber, many artists’ renditions of merchandise and food sports are adorable, smiling expressions while faithfully replicating iconic dishes and products.
Buden Street Chipi Presented by Lyndsey Ingram Gallery on Bourden Street, London. While Scampi and Sparrow whipped fries are not edible, they are available for purchase. Visitors are welcome to read the menu carefully and order takeaway directly from the artist. “As with art, … the familiarity of these spaces disarms the audience and takes them to a playful, often nostalgic place,” the gallery said.
The exhibition includes handmade banquet seats, as well as wall-to-wall gallery where famous Chipi customers sew portraits. Reading the fabric menu, harder than usual tomato sauce, comes out of Heinz bottles and reminds not to feed seagulls. All in all, the device includes over 65,000 individual felt works, including 15 different colors of chip shapes.
