United Airlines passengers face the prospect of delays after airlines require parking nationwide.

The ground stop was requested at about 8 p.m. ET and lasted about two hours. A statement was issued after 10 p.m. ET saying the issue was resolved.

“We are working with our customers to take them to their destination after a technical disruption Wednesday night. The basic technical issues have been resolved and our team is working to restore our normal operations despite the remaining delays we expect.”

Flightaware, the flight tracking service, showed that one-third of Manchester United’s mainline flights were behind schedule, although that figure includes flights before ground parking took effect. Nevertheless, after ground stops, Manchester United’s delays and cancellations were still after ground stops.

It is possible as United struggles to get crew and aircraft to recover as planned, but the ground stop suggests the worst is over.

“Ground Station” holds flights on the ground, so arriving airports will not return to airports that encounter such as bad weather or other events that restrict arrivals. In some cases, if the airline has an operational problem, it will require a one-stop stop, which seems to be the case for Manchester United tonight.
