Photographer Jack Sorokin’s “Last Days of Summer”

A beautiful collection of work by Brooklyn-based photographer Jack Sorokin. “The Last Days of Summer” features portraits and still lifes taken in late summer in Cognac, France. Created in brief, focused bursts of time, the images capture the emotional texture of a moment suspended between the heat of summer and the slow march toward autumn. It’s also an exploration of the fleeting energy of youth and the nostalgia that comes with the changing seasons.
“There is a tension between time and eternity, reflected in the juxtaposition of weathered stone architecture and vibrant flowers, which symbolize age and impermanence, as opposed to the persistence of life. The images are connected through atmosphere, color and the touch of light and temperature. They move between intimacy and distance, personal memory and collective feeling. At the heart of the project is an invitation for the viewer to reflect on the emotional weight of longing, change and quietness that accompanies transition.”
Jack Sorokin is on our shortlist for the 2025 Booooooom Art & Photography Book Awards.
