Weekly Equipment News: iPhone 17 may be a month away, Sonos raises prices
Watch lovers will undoubtedly joke here, and Pepsi is co-produced here: The Rolex GMT Master II was originally made with Pan Am Colors and is known as “Pepsi” in the watch community because it resembles the soda brand’s logo. This has been an iconic collector for decades. By formally working with Pepsi and working with Dark, Seiko created Dark Pepsi GMT, which Pepsi eventually had an official say in the matter. Both works are limited to 7,000 and will be released in September. The SRPL99 retails for $395, on a stainless steel strap, the SSK047 costs $550 for a custom-print Pepsi rubber strap. Bad news? If you don’t get into the booking list quickly, you may have to wait for these to be re-strewn on the reseller’s website. –Parker Hall
Sonos
With President Trump’s extensive (and rapidly changing) tariff plans rolling out, we’re beginning to confirm that imports are priced higher, actually shifting to consumers, the latest work of recently appointed Sonos CEO Tom Conrad. According to Bloomberg, Conrad talked about the upcoming price increase for Sonos in his first-quarter earnings report.
Conrad told investors that the brand has been committed to “minimizing downstream impact on Sonos customers” and explained that most of Sonos’ products are made in Vietnam and Malaysia, which he said would be subject to new 20% and 19% tariff rates, respectively, under Trump’s plan.
In terms of context, other electronic brands have less clear direct tariff hikes, and JBL has raised its new Tour One Tour One Tour One Tour by $50 a few months after it released “global industry pressure.” It remains to be seen how much Sonos plans to raise prices and what products will be affected by. – Ryan Waniata
Motorola debuts Razr
Provided by Motorola
Remember to fascinate your Razr? You can relive the day in Motorola’s great collection, which includes the latest RAZR 2025 and Moto Buds Loop, which includes the new Pantone Ice melt colors and comes with Swarovski Crystals. Motorola first announced its latest RAZR phone with Swarovski in April, although the initial collaboration began with the new Moto Buds Loop Wireless headphones in French oak colors.
Now, the RAZR 2025 model is undergoing a dazzling upgrade using 35 Swarovski crystals on a leather-inspired finish. Moto Buds Loop gets the same treatment as the original debut in the new ice melt color. The company said a limited number is available and a “more carefully planned collection of equipment” is about to take place.
How much does it cost to a messy Razr? Apparently the same as the normal model. The excellent collectibles retail for $1,000, which includes phones and wireless earbuds. If you purchased Moto Buds Loop and RAZR 2025 on MSRP, it’s the same amount you paid. Not bad for those desperately trying to recreate their rhinestone-rich 2005 wardrobe.
