Google Flights Adds the Capability to Filter Basic Economy, Launches Flight Transactions

This has been an important point for Google Flights users’ frustration for years, and now there is a solution.

Google has just introduced the ability to filter basic economic fares in its search results. This should make it easier for travelers to compare prices easily without doubting whether they are looking at restrictive, uncurrency tickets.

TPG has been asking if the site plans to deploy this feature for a long time, and we just learned that it will be available to all users soon.

Google starts launching basic economic exclusions this week (under seat-level selectors). According to Google, it should be offered to everyone in the next few weeks, if not very early.

Now you can throw away basic economic fares in Google Flight search results

This is a feature that many of us have been calling out: the ability to screen for basic economic tickets. After all, these slim tickets can bring various restrictions. For example, Delta Airlines won’t let you win Skymiles or visit Sky Clubs on basic tickets, while United Airlines won’t let flyers on basic fares carry a full-size carry-on bag.

But until now, it is often difficult to tell if the price you see on Google flights is the full fee or the basic coaching ticket.

Now you can choose the coach ticket you see. Google has been testing this new feature with featured user groups, and now this option is being expanded.

This is how I looked when I searched for new features between New York and San Francisco. As you can see, there is a drop-down bar in the fare section.

Google Travel is launching flight transactions

Google also launched a new AI-driven search tool “Flights” in Google Flights.

“Flight deals are designed for flexible travelers whose primary goal is to save money on the next trip,” Google said in a blog post that announced the news. “You can describe when, where and how to travel, and the flight deals will take care of the rest.

To see the best bargains, try looking for something like “a week-long trip to a city that keeps eating delicious food”.

Google told TPG: “Flight Deals uses Google’s advanced AI model to understand what you need and then taps into real-time Google Flights data to quickly show you the latest relevant choices.”

Currently, flight transactions are only “see how AI can improve travel plans” in beta testing.

Over the next few weeks and months, I will dig into flight offers. Currently, it will start from the United States, Canada and India.
