Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2X Review: Too good, not a must

Each accessory is embedded in an RFID chip that automatically adjusts heat and airflow according to the settings you last used. This is not a revolutionary change, but it’s nice to have to switch settings every time I switch attachments. You can also pair it with Dyson’s app, which provides tutorials based on your hair type and goals. Dyson also moved the fan and thermal control to the bottom of the handle. It looks cleaner, but you may become more picky if you are used to adjusting settings in the middle style.
If you have purchased the previous Airwrap attachment, unfortunately they are incompatible with this new model due to their smaller design. Again, like most Dyson tools sold in the US, it is only 120 volts, so don’t plan on packing it for your euro opening.
New skills, familiar results
I used a Co-Anda 2X on my freshly washed, sometimes air-dried hair, and air-dried each attachment was broadcast to see how it contradicted its ex. I’ve used the original Airwrap and have tested other multi-groups such as Shark Elastic Scheme (9/10, Wired Recommendation) and T3 AIRE 360 (9/10, Wired Recommendation).
Setting up is simple, but Dyson tools always have some learning curve. Pairing with the app is quick, RFID technology works by advertising. Each time the attachment is exchanged, the device adjusts to my last use settings.
The bundle comes with six accessories: a prefabricated dryer, round brush, 1.2-inch and 1.6-inch curly buckets, a reverse nail ring brush, and – my personal favorite – the new Airsmooth straight-on-the-mooth. The Curly+Coily kit is swapped in a diffuser and tension comb instead of air holes and 1.2-inch curly buckets.
Straight + Wave Kit
- Quick Dryer 2x: For faster drying speeds.
- Round brush 2 times: A large number of styles used to reduce frizz.
- Antistimulator brush: For smoothing.
- 1.6″ Curling Gun Barrel: Loose curls and waves in both directions.
- 1.2″ Curling Gun Barrel: For large amounts of curls and waves in both directions.
- Airsmooth 2X: With a sleek, stylish style.
Curly+Coily Kit

- 2 times round brush
- Reverse tip ring brush
- 1.6″ Curling Bucket
- 2 times the tension comb: Dry, stretch and smooth the curls and coils.
- Wave + Curl Diffuser: A 2-in-1 dome diffuser that enhances natural curls or adds volume and texture.
The Airsmooth Straightener left the deepest impression on me. It smoothed my ends into a soft C-bend in less than 20 minutes. The calories were gentle enough that my hair was not singing in the future. I didn’t get the flat glass, but it was close enough to polish.
Both the loop brush and the round brush feel upgraded, with the longer bristles that won’t grab or drag on the wet ends. I get solid volume and frizz control from both, and their roots are milder. The curling gun barrel is redesigned with the tip of the square-optic, which makes them easier to hold, but the result is the same: Unless I spray them with stiff hair, ventilated curls in a few hours. This has always been my biggest pain for the blank board. It’s better than lasting curls, and the technology hasn’t improved in this regard.
What I appreciate most is not having to fiddle with the settings every time I exchange attachments. RFID memory is a small touch, but makes the whole process smoother.
Great – but not required
If you already have Airwrap or a nice scammer, there is no need to upgrade. The Co-Anda 2X is designed and refined, but the core experience of Dyson has not developed much.
But if you don’t have multilevelers and have a budget to budget, then this is the version I bought. It’s faster, more ergonomic and generally more enjoyable. Admittedly, you’ll get the smoothest blank treatment to date.
