Being taken to an interview? 7 keys to success

Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter
When I was recruiting, after one or two phone interviews, one of my clients brought people to various locations across the United States for face-to-face interviews. For example, they did not gather everyone in the Southeast in Atlanta or New York or Boston. They arranged all the screening people regardless of the location
Interviews are conducted on Fridays and people are flying out on Thursday nights, so flight delays usually don’t affect Friday’s interview schedule (sometimes snowfall changes things).
Here are some keys to success when you interview at home:
1. Try to schedule your interview to respect your body clock. It’s easy for people from the East Coast to the West Coast to prepare for an interview at 9 a.m. After all, it feels like noon for New Yorkers. For Californians traveling to Washington, D.C., it’s 6 a.m. for them, they may need to wake up at 7:30 in the East or 3:30 in the Pacific to be ready. It’s better to see if you can arrange for yourself to start from 11 a.m.
2. Find out the name of everyone you will meet, what their title is, and how long you are brought to talk to them. Find them on LinkedIn to understand their background and features. Google they learn more and get texture about them.
3. Let your flight plan give you time to relax when entering the hotel.
4. Respect your airport driver. They may be asked to report your behavior.
5. Don’t deviate from your usual diet. You don’t want to overeat in a meeting.
6. Know your agenda and how much time you have to meet everyone, make sure to start each interview with enthusiasm and enthusiasm and complete each person the same way. We all have an internal clock. Use it! Even if you are outside the busy door at your next meeting, each meeting will have a good handshake, smile and eye contact.
7. Usually, HR personnel are present to coordinate the day of events. At the end of the visit, before you head to the car to take you to the airport, please thank them for their efforts and express interest in the work you discussed (only if it is true, only in interest!
I can’t help you with how to answer the professional questions you’re asked. I can give you a “wrapper” of everything before your meeting.
