I’m 37 years old – Scott H Young

Today is my birthday. Since I was 18, I have written a blog post every year, about some personal thoughts about the previous year and some plans for the future.

This year is the conclusion of my twelve-month basic project, which I completed technically last month. For logistical reasons, I decided to work and write about my foundation projects three months before the Foundation course and the articles published here. So even if this year is mostly centered around the project, I’m going to keep the idea of the course ending at the end of September to avoid confusion.

I had a good time. I went to Mexico and northern Macedonia and this gave me the opportunity to use Spanish and Macedonians again. I participated in my first marathon. I read more than a hundred books.

Most importantly, this year’s work-life balance is good. My ambitions have certainly become softer since I have given birth. Now, many of my potential achievements in my twenties feel like traps now. I remembered a quote I heard somewhere that at the end of your career, the only person to remember that you work overtime is your kids.

At the same time, I was keenly aware that balance is a luxury. I have friends who are similar to my business and they have to significantly downsize. Good luck, hard work and wise decisions are important in this regard. I’m glad I’ve been going on so far.

Plans for the next twelve months

I hope to complete many projects next year.

My biggest one for work is to hold the second foundation. We are planning to run the course to align with the 2026 calendar year and allow students to attend in November. The last class felt like it started suddenly, so this time should help us prepare students correctly.

This time, we also try to create a book/job/habit track and provide some important information about the programs for the course. We plan to provide it for those who can’t join so they can follow up.

I have some future course projects that I will start researching next year. Despite the huge success of the foundation’s launch, our business has supported our business over the past year, but it’s clear that we’ve been waiting between products for too long – Focus Life, I’ve been comparing to Cal Newport’s products for five years.

Outside of work, I will continue running. I hope to compete in the Vancouver Half Marathon next year and start at the local 16km race, starting at sea level and ending on the top of the mountain. I also want to try triathlon at some point. I feel confident about swimming and running, so it’s mainly about building more confidence in the bike.

Intellectually, I hope to expand the breadth of reading content this year. Last year, I set such a high bar for my reading in the project that it was difficult to find time to write this topic.

I also hope to cycle through the Foundation projects for a second time, pushing myself into some areas I want to deepen and highlight several areas I want to do better.

Most importantly, I am very grateful. My life has always been good and I know I owe it to the support of readers like you. I hope you will continue to follow me next year and I will try my best to share with you everything I have learned!
