Delta lets Skymiles members choose their next European route

Delta Airlines plans to launch uninterrupted services next summer to arrive at the beautiful Southern European island, with no American airlines currently flying.
Which one is it? It depends on you.
Next week, Delta will have its Skymiles loyalty members vote for which of the three destinations they wish to see fly to next summer.
Updated map: The most exciting new airlines of 2025 (so far)
The airline vowed to fly to any winning flight.
These three competitors are:
- The Mediterranean island between Malta, Sicily and North Africa
- Sardinia, near the Italian coast
- Ibiza, Spain coast
Skymiles members will be able to vote for favorites in the three destinations next week.
Delta will open voting through its mobile app on August 25, with members going to draft by August 29.

An exciting new destination…whether it wins
Whether it is Atlanta’s airlines that end up flying to Malta, Sardinia or Ibiza, it’s a groundbreaking new route.

Currently, there are no airlines flying between the United States and any of these three destinations.
But in recent years, airlines (including the Delta) have noticed the unremitting demand for travel to Southern Europe, including outdoor path cities throughout the Atlantic.
This trend led to the arrival of New York’s John Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Catania, Sicily, Italy last summer, a trend that led to Delta’s uninterrupted service last summer.
Meanwhile, from Bilbao and Palma de Mallorca in Europe to Greenland and Mongolia elsewhere, top competitor United Airlines has launched many routes to lesser-known destinations.
For its part, the Delta is building such a “route race” to get its members to make sound where the carriers fly.

“Delta flies are more than just points on the map. They are portals of culture, connections and possibilities,” Paul Baldoni, senior vice president of network planning at Delta, said in a statement announcing the news.
The carrier plans to announce the winner within 30 days of the vote.
Ibiza, Malta or Sardinia… Choose your choice!
What did you choose?
Everyone has appeal and novelty – not to mention the hotel you can book on points.
“Personally, I love the direct route to Sardinia,” TPG senior travel editor Lyndsey Matthews proposed. “It has all the delicious food and gorgeous beach travelers seek on the Italian mainland coast, but the crowds are reduced.”
It is worth noting: Sardinia is home to the brand new W Sadinia – Poltu Quatu (part of the Marriott Bonvoy Portfolio). However, there are other tempting options in Ibiza and Malta, including Westin (Marriott Bonvoy) in Ibiza and Hilton in Malta.

Bottom line
Which competitor will rank first? It depends on the Skymiles members next week – a rare opportunity for customers to weigh on the airline’s roadmap.
Delta has not yet revealed which U.S. city will be associated with the new destination, so (with the destination itself) see it as a key development to watch.
