Scratched between two buildings, the “Church” changes the tiny urban gap in Bucharest – huge

Wedging between two rather traditional residential buildings in Bucharest is an unexpected gem of the cafe. The “Church” is a single-story, modern structure with steep triangular roof lines and smooth fixtures that are very narrow – the features it celebrates through proportions, materials and many windows.
Designed by ș Tefan Păvălu Ine, founder and chief architect of Romanian studio Vinklu, the unique building is home to a local coffee shop called Boiler. The “Church” has plenty of room for the barista and some patrons, while the bench outside offers some seating.
A large mature tree along the street played a role in the design background. To achieve harmony in a small space, păvăluț emphasizes streamlined materials and heights, with wood finishes to give it a sense of atmosphere, allowing the exterior to enter through large glass panes and highlighting the tranquil setting under the tree.
In its function as a coffee shop, the “church” is where people connect. “It’s a bold statement about urban creativity, the beauty of intimacy, and the ability to design to unlock the hidden potential of our cities,” a statement said.
