Alaska Airlines Digital Package Labels are now also valid on Hawaiian Airlines

Alaska Airlines is the first American airline to launch a digital luggage tag, and we recently tested it on trips to and from Hawaii and from New York to California.
The carrier’s new package license is made by a company called Bagtag, which just announced that you can now use its digital bags on Hawaiian Airlines flights as well.
While I didn’t find them perfect, the price of $89 might be worth the investment in a regular Alaska or Hawaiian flyer.
You can now use your luggage tags for flights on Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Skywest, which are operated by Alaska, OneWorld partner Qatar Airways and Alaska partner Iceland Airlines. You can buy them online in the Bagtag section of the Alaska website and you can receive them directly in the mail. For a limited time, you can also order two packs at checkout using the “Alaskapair” code.
It’s easy to get them to work. After checking in and adding luggage in the Alaska app, find the Use e-pack button.
Then, just scan the tag with your phone. Once both devices have electronic connections, a digital version of your baggage bar code will be displayed on the screen. I had some trouble getting the tags connected a few times, but it worked. I haven’t enabled the option on the Hawaiian app yet, but I think it’s coming soon.

I did have some trouble during my first test flight from New York to San Francisco because the luggage tags were separated at some point. Fortunately, the bag handler was able to tape it back to my suitcase.

If you are investing in this package tag, my biggest advice is to make sure it is very tightly attached to your package. Meanwhile, it’s great that you can use them on Hawaiian Airlines flights now.
