With six NZ Credit Cards (five individuals and one small business owner) on the market, it’s hard to determine which one is best for your travel preferences and spending habits.
Bonvoy Marriott offers cards from two issuers in Chase and American Express, each with its own application rules and restrictions. Marriott Cards also have many of their own qualification requirements.

Cardmembers receives free Golden Elite status every year, Bonvoy Marriott is earned every year with room upgrades (but not for suites), late checkout and bonus points. If you maintain sufficient interests, we will attach great importance to the status of gold. If you want to get a higher status, you will get 15 Elite Night Points in your Bonvoy account every year to help you out.
- There is no free nighttime prize for free. Many hotel credit cards come with free nighttime rewards that are stored in your account each year on your card anniversary. However, unless you spend $15,000 or more of a qualified purchase within a calendar year, Bevy won’t offer a free nighttime bonus. This free nighttime award, if won, is worth up to 50,000 points. (Certain hotels have job seeking fees.)
- You will receive 1,000 bonus points for each paid stay. Card members staying at a Marriott hotel or resort and paying cash will receive 1,000 bonus points for each stay (although points will not be earned with points redemption and the use of free night rewards).
- Holidays and merchandise purchased with your card are protected. Cardmembers can enjoy a lot of travel and shopping protection when using Bevy cards. If you have problems, these protections can help and peace of mind.

You don’t have Marriott cards and want to diversify your views
The most obvious reason to get a Bevy card is to diversify your opinion balance. Even if you have a lot of hotel points for hotel brands, you may find yourself in the location where the best hotel choice is the Bonvoy Martople property.
Diversifying hotel points before your upcoming trip is a smart move, and having Marriott’s points (plus an elite identity) can be beneficial and ensures you can redeem your hotel night’s points anywhere you want to go.
You are eligible to receive a bonus on your Marriott Credit Card
It can be a little difficult to determine your eligibility for a welcome offer on your Bevy card, as you will be subject to restrictions on the US Express as well as the Marriott Bonvoy restrictions. Please check your eligibility before applying for a Bonvoy credit card at Marriott Hotel.

Those who know how to extract the maximum value from Marriott Points may not be confused by the $250 annual fee on the Bevy card. Although TPG’s August 2025 valuation will put Marriott’s points at 0.7 cents, it is often possible to get more value than that.
Even with the dynamic pricing structure of Marriott Bovo, you can still redeem points for incredible value.

The main point of sale for Bevy is that it provides a mid-level state without any spending requirements.
Cardmakers receive free Golden Elite identity every year. Allowances include upgrades to preferred rooms (but not suites) per stay, late checkouts and bonus points. These privileges can prove valuable as they can enhance your accommodation and help you improve your points quickly.
Usually, earning a gold elite identity requires one of some things. You can spend this state on other credit cards, or spend more nights at Marriott Bonvoy Hotels and Resorts (although you start with 15-25 Elite Night Points, which is a stipend with a large Marriott credit card).
For those who can use these benefits but don’t necessarily get the gold state in another way, automatically receiving the state without any effort can be a more pleasant path.

Who shouldn’t get the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Amex?
However, not everything is optimistic when looking at Bevy cards. Consider the following reasons why this card probably shouldn’t be in your wallet:
You want a free night reward without spending requirements to make money
Unfortunately, Bevy cards require purchases of $15,000 or more in one calendar year to earn a free night reward of up to 50,000 points. Since many hotel credit cards that charge lower-years will automatically offer free night certificates, Bevy’s spending requirements are a real drawback.
By contrast, several Marriott credit cards offer free nighttime rewards each year on your account anniversary. Card members earned up to 35,000 nights on free nights Marriott Hotel BonvoyBoundless® Credit Card (See rates and fees) and Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Cardand receive up to 85,000 free night awards on Ritz-Carlton™ credit card Marriott Hotel.

You want to spend on a higher level
The Golden Elite is not bad, but not bad. The real allowance for Marriott Hotel begins when you reach Platinum Elite status. This is the level of free breakfast at many hotels where you can unlock suite upgrades, welcome gifts for every stay.
Other credit cards, etc. The World of Hyatt Credit Cards (See rates and fees) and Marriott Bonvoy Unlimited Cards provide a path to elite status through credit card spending (either win status by spending only or speed up your path by spending), and the money you can spend on your Bevy card can drive you with Marriott’s Platinum Elite status.
To reach a higher position, you need to spend the night at Bonvoy Marriott Properties. For many, this could beat the purpose of owning a hotel credit card.

You are eligible for a business credit card

You can also stack 15 Elite Night Areds offered by Amex Marriott Bonvoy business cards with elite night points like The Card. Marriott Bonvoy Unlimitedthere is an annual fee of $95.
By having these two cards, you will be in Auto Gold Elite status every year, 30 Elite Night Points (making you only have 20 nights of Platinum status), and also receive two free night awards, each worth up to 35,000 points. You’re paying an annual fee of $220 to own both cards – still less than the same identity offered by Bevy cards, fewer elite night points and no free night rewards.

You won’t get much value from your Golden Elite identity
The main selling point of Bevy Card is that it offers free Golden Elite identity every year. If you don’t stay in a Marriott hotel so often that you can win this status without Bevy, you probably won’t be constantly staying inadequate enough to get a lot of value from the Auto Gold Elite identity.
Before you decide to pay the $250 annual fee for this card, you need to calculate how much value you get from this major privilege.
