Maximize your purchases

Don’t forget that you can stack your Rakuten income with discounts offered by merchants – many retailers trade on Labor Day weekends. Just make sure you only apply the coupon code you found on Rakuten, as others may invalidate your reward.

You can also stack Rakuten revenues through car rental and hotel rewards programs as long as you book directly. For example, if you plan to select a hotel accommodation by clicking on the Rakuten Booking, be sure to add the privilege loyalty program number of your choice to your reservation to earn rewards through the hotel in addition to the Rakuten income.

This is not the only way to maximize your purchase. Once you click Rakuten arrives at the merchant page, enhance your revenue by using the right credit card to pay.

For travel sites, this means a card that earns bonuses when traveling, e.g. Chase Sapphire Priority® Card (See rates and fees) or Wells Fargo Aproumph® Card (See rates and fees). Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card (spending 2 miles per dollar) will also serve you well. Or, if you have added a new Rakuten American Express® card to your wallet, you can get an extra 4% cashback (or Amex points per dollar) on all Rakuten purchases when you pay with the card.

Information on the Rakuten American Express card has been collected independently by Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Finally, check out your AMEX offers and other credit card offers – you may find targeted offers with the ones you purchased.

For example, when I currently spend $500 or more before September 30, I currently prefer a 15% return in Chase Sapphire. If I click on Rakuten to Sixt to Sixt to Saver Day Toing toeking to toperage day Tovernew toverayweeking to saper Day and use my sapphires to tend to prepay my rent, I get a $60 reward (or 6,000 Amex Mission Rewards) (or 6,000 Amex Mission Points)) and $75 as a statement credit, thanks to my chase offer, and the 2 chase ultimate reward points spent on travel purchases per dollar.

However, make sure to check Rakuten’s terms for your specific businessman. For example, at the time of writing, Rakuten’s Viator terminology states: “Using card connections, discount codes or employee and student discount codes will not be available.” However, Sixt’s exclusion does not mention the card-related quotes.
