When you start thinking about changing careers, it is important to take the first step.
I’m Jeff Altman, the big game hunter, head coach of Jobs search. I have helped a lot of people throughout my career. It’s a difficult journey because our culture is the one we’re impatient with. We found it difficult to grind things any more. We want a quick fix; we want someone to tap us on the shoulder and solve our problem. Unfortunately, this is not how life works.
It took years to invent a car, right? What we call airplanes have been flying in the air for a long time. But we expect suddenly, someone would knock us on that shoulder and say, “You know, I got a job for you,” even if no one knew I was looking for a job.
So when I think about starting a career journey, I think about finding someone to work with. Now, it doesn’t have to be a coach, although the coach makes it easier because they have experience. It could be another person who made this change. It can be a different change, but you can work with it and set goals, goals, intentions and people who are there. Once you have this person, start finding someone who supports but is realistic. This is why.
There are many people who will tell you that you can’t do this. it’s out of the question. You will never get the money you want. . You shouldn’t, can’t, it’s impossible, it’s impossible. You need people who help you and support you and listen to you as you work hard. They are not the ones who will tell you: “Look. I tell you it’s hard, you shouldn’t do it.” You’ll find someone in your circle of friends who are going through the transition, or find someone outside your circle and work together to develop a personal plan to encourage each other.
“Encouragement” does not mean a fake pat on the back. Fake, “You do a great job.” You know, that’s the ability to say to someone: “Why don’t you do that?
“Oh, things are in the way…” Various excuses. But start with the following concept
Who do you want to be?
Why is this important?
Know yourself, who can you talk to and get some advice from there and then start working from there?
Remember, Rome is not a day’s construction. New York, Los Angeles, or any other major city is not. This is a change and the change will take time. You don’t know what you don’t know yet, but working with others again, whether it’s a coach or another person who is transitioning, can support and encourage, rather than telling you to “get rid of this dream”, his thoughts (filling the gap), it’s a pipe dream. ”You don’t need it.
What you need is encouragement, support, and kicking ass from people you learn to care about from time to time.
