Why I pair my cash card with a travel reward card

I love points and mileage games – I even have a sock drawer full of credit cards to prove it. However, you might be surprised to find that many of them are not earning points and miles.
That’s because I’m also a big fan of cashback.
My credit card strategy has healthy travel rewards and cash folding cards. However, a cash reserve card plays a key role in my overall card strategy: Apple cards, which is all I use for non-Bonbonus spending.
That’s why this card plays a crucial role in my strategy.
Information on Apple cards has been collected independently by Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
My current card settings
Here is my current daily card settings, what is the purpose of each card:
This setting prioritizes transferable rewards. The two cards I always get in my wallet and see that most of my daily spending is preferred by Amex Gold and Chase Sapphire because they earn incredibly valuable membership reward points and ultimate reward points that I transfer to my partner for maximum value.
Amex Gold Earns:

- Meal at a global restaurant for 4 o’clock per dollar, up to $50,000 per calendar year (then 1 o’clock per dollar)
- 4 points spent per dollar at a supermarket in the US, up to $25,000 per calendar year (and then 1 point per dollar)
- Each dollar spent 3 points on flights booked directly from the airline or Amextravel.com

Meanwhile, Chase Sapphire’s preferred earnings:
- Spend 5 points per dollar on Lyft (until September 2027)
- Dining 3 o’clock per dollar
- Every 2 minutes spent on travel, the rough definition of chasing
I occasionally buy flights on this card instead of my Amex gold because the travel protection kit is impressive. Sapphire Preferred can also act as my backup meal card where Amex is not accepted.
It is also important to note that although I can use other cards to earn more points, I may focus all my spending on sapphire preference.
Also, when I want to make more cash returns, I will use Capital One One One One One One One One One One One One Mevor Rewards Credit Card and Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card. With this duo, I also have the option to return the cash to a mile.
My cards are more than the ones listed above, but sometimes I only use many of them just to keep their credit history and credit utilization to maintain a healthy credit score.
I also have cards for specific privileges only, like mine DeltaSkymiles® Gold American Express Card Free shipping bags and takeoff 15 or Main visa (See rates and fees) About 5% of Amazon purchases.

How cashback works in my opinion and mileage strategy
Many times throughout the year, I find myself rich in points and poor in cash. In this case, I only focus on and focus on earning cash. Cashback gives me the flexibility to get points and mileage. Also, it’s easier for me to redeem cash because I tend to get analytical paralysis and generally won’t redeem my views and miles unless I find a redemption that matches the main point and mileage of TPG or exceeds the TPG.

Around the holidays, I tend to focus on making money, which I can then use to buy gifts for friends and family.
You might be wondering why I’m not only focusing on earning points and converting them into cashback. Most credit card points are not converted to cashback at a 1:1 ratio. For example, when redeemed for cash back, the Amex point is only worth 0.6 cents less.

Why is Apple Card My All
Apple Card is my preferred card because it earns at least 2% cashback with all purchases made on Apple Pay.
Although I usually use mine Sapphire prefers and Amex Gold For most of my spending, Apple cards work when my Amex Gold and Sapphire prefer to spend 1 point per dollar on the non-Bonus category or I want to increase my cash reserves.
It covers all my other expenses, such as purchases of pharmacies, bills and utilities or anything that doesn’t fit in the bonus category.

Also, I don’t have to physically carry this card in my wallet, as the 2% cashback is only purchased on Apple Pay. Today, almost all businessmen accept Apple Pay (Wink Wink, Look at you, Wal-Mart), so I never had to worry about this payment method being rejected.
On rare occasions, the merchant does not accept an Apple salary, I will use my Capital One Ventureone to spend 1.25 miles on all purchases.

Better yet, like most other cards, cash back is charged daily instead of accumulating at the end of the billing cycle. Cash back is called “daily cash” and is deposited into your Apple cash account every day. You can use this cash to purchase or deposit it into a bank account.
Winning points and miles is the basis of my credit card strategy, but cashback rewards also play an integral role. If you want to branch out and diversify your credit card rewards, add a cash card in your wallet. There are many good options, many of which do not charge annual fees.
