Delta Promotional Band Miles Earn Seahawks Success

This weekend marks the return of the NFL, an easy way for Pacific Northwest travelers to earn miles.

Delta Air Lines will bring back 12Status, its loyalty program specifically targeting members of Delta Skymiles who live in Washington state, this fall.

As part of the program, the airline will award members one mile per pass throw by the Seattle Seahawks this season.

While these miles don’t exactly give you a free Delta seat in Europe, they do add up: I’ve processed the numbers and over the past five seasons the Seahawks averaged over 4,100 pass yards per season.

This summer, I received a Skymiles Award agreement to book my wife for a 5,000-mile one-way economic flight from Texas to North Carolina.

This is not to say there are many 5,000-mile flights out there, but to connect your Uber and Starbucks account with Skymiles, which are a few other easy ways you can earn your loyalty currency – that is, in addition to flying and spending on your credit card, it can help you buy miles every day.

You can sign up for the 12Status program here, named after a passionate Seahawk fan base, aptly nicknamed “12th Man”.

It’s free, but you have to register before the Seahawks’ first game of the season, which begins at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday’s PDT.
