Delta Platinum Amex Welcome Discount

New Delta Platinum Amex During the first six months of card membership, card members can earn 90,000 miles after spending $4,000 of qualified purchases. This offer will end on October 29.

According to TPG’s September 2025 Triangle Mile Valuation, this bonus is worth $1,035 per purchase. This is the highest bonus we tend to see on this card and is available in July.

However, if you have this card or have it before, you may not qualify for this welcome offer. AMEX can also consider the number of U.S. Express cards you open and close when deciding whether you are eligible for a welcome offer.

Delta’s cards are restricted by American Express’s family restrictions to get welcome bonuses, so if you’ve ever had a higher Delta Amex card in the past, you may not be eligible for a welcome bonus on Delta Amex Platinum.

Fortunately, if you are not eligible for a welcome offer, AMEX will notify you and will display a message shortly after submitting your application. Therefore, do not ignore any messages or warnings that appear after hitting the submission.

Earn miles on Delta Platinum Amex

When you use Delta Platinum Amex for a qualified purchase, you will get Skymiles for Delta. In particular, you will earn Delta Miles using cards as follows:

• 3 miles per dollar, direct purchases made in Delta and Hotels worldwide
• Buy 2 miles per dollar at restaurants around the world (including takeout and delivery in the US) and restaurants in supermarkets in the US
• Other qualified purchases per dollar

Since TPG’s September 2025 valuation PEG Delta Skymiles Miles is priced at 1.15 cents and you’ll get a 3.5% effective return, 2.3% restaurant and supermarket catering purchases in Delta and Hotels purchases, while other purchases are 1.2%.

Although loyal Delta travelers may enjoy earning bonuses on these purchases Skymiles, none of these returns are close to other cards you can use in these categories (e.g. Chase SapphireReserve® (See rates and fees).

Redemption miles on Delta Platinum Amex

Delta’s Skymiles program has a poor reputation in points and Miles Buffs. After all, Delta has devalued its mileage several times over the years. Moreover, Delta has not released an official reward chart, which means the reward fee may be high.

Still, there are some great ways to get value from the Delta Skymiles program.

For example, flash sales often occur in the Delta. In the past, we have seen domestic awards one-way from 2,000 Skymiles, flights to Alaska, taking 5,000 miles round trips, cross-border awards from 10,000 miles round trips, and from 16,000 miles round trips to Europe.

When flying Delta partner airlines with Skymiles, consider grabbing some great desserts. This includes awards from Skyteam partners such as Air France and Korea, but the program also has some non-partners.

Please note that some partner awards are not displayed on Delta’s website, including the Greater Tahiti River, Czech Airlines and Kenya Airlines awards. As a result, you need to use Expertflyer (owned by TPG’s parent company, Red Ventures) or another Skyteam website (such as Flying Blue) to find availability before calling these partners to book the awards.
