Don’t let them distract you

By Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter

Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter dissuades you from paying attention to your employer’s bullshit and focusing on the prize.

The easiest way to negotiate a higher salary for yourself

He’s Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter, and I want to talk to you about some of the bullshit employers use to keep you where you are. Now, you have to think of it like the Wizard of Oz. Don’t look behind the curtain.

Just pay attention to that big, powerful voice. Don’t worry about what’s going on behind the scenes. So, let me take you behind the scenes.

One of the classic things employers try to do is distract you so you can focus on your work, not your money. Chances are you are not a rich person. Now, if you are, this video is not for you.

You can turn it off now. But the truth is, almost everyone watching this video is trying to improve themselves professionally and make more money. So what the employer does is discuss with you how important what you are going to learn is and what an important role you will play in the company.

They try to give you a warm and fuzzy feeling and avoid talking about money unless they convince you. So, I want to remind everyone that money is very important. Now, I’ve said this in other videos.

If your pre-tax income increased by $5,000 over five years between raises and raises, you could potentially make $25,500 to $26,000 more over five years than if you just accepted the number proposed to you. However, if you make $10,000 more, that’s $51,000, $52,000. $15,000 more, $75,000 more, $78,000 more.

The Second Easiest Way to Negotiate a Higher Salary

Change jobs after or before the fourth year. In both cases, you’ll get more boost. So from what I understand, money should be important to you and shouldn’t disappear from the equation in how you evaluate things.

Don’t focus on deflection. You know, I’m going to be the puppet master and talk to the hands here for a second while I’m going to completely hypnotize you and avoid money with what I’m saying here. I’ll tell you a quick story.

A man came to me for coaching advice, and we reviewed some of the decisions he had made during his previous job search. I listened to his story, listened to his story and said to him, he made some mistakes. What mistake did I make? You fall in love with nonsense.

The employers who tricked you into focusing on career opportunities are the same companies that fired you when things got a little tough. Wouldn’t it be better to have a few thousand extra dollars in my pocket than to be unemployed for four months like I am now? Yes? OK So, realize that you have to take care of yourself.

You have to take care of your family. Employers don’t do this. During the next economic crisis, the hiring manager who tells you all these things will probably get fired just like you.

Pay attention to the money. I don’t mean hold on and squeeze them and suck them dry, but push them a little higher. Don’t just accept the first offer.

Try to do some negotiation. See if you can add more money. Like I said, an extra $5,000 over five years is an extra $25,000 in pre-tax income.

Assume you are in the highest tax bracket. That means you still have $12,500 to $13,000 in your pocket. Don’t you want this? This is Jeff Altman.
