Jean-Michel Basquiat Estate works with Alchemy and Preto

Jean-Michel Basquiat’s craze continues, with fashion brands Alchemy and Preto working with the artist’s estate to acquire a new series inspired by his paintings.

New series owns gi and Nogi Jiu Jitsu suits as well as lifestyle clothing, some of the artist’s artworks are incorporated into print.

Prior to New York Fashion Week on September 10, there are now some limited pieces available on the fashion brand’s website. The series nods to the martial arts themes that are often included in Basquiat’s work, including “Achilles”, a term that once used for a specific Jiu-Jitsu foot lock.

Basquet Estate regularly works with fashion brands. For example, last year, the estate teamed up with clothing store H&M to create a new Basquet-style clothing line for the brand.

The collaboration develops from the 2022 exhibition “King Pleasure” installed by the artist sisters. The exhibition brings together rare paintings, paintings and related Evermera and works with a variety of brands, including Ev Bravado and Téla D’Amore, who decides war designers.
