Norton Museum of Art adds works by Basquet, Cassat Eversley

The Norton Museum in West Palm Beach, Florida announced it will add about 80 artworks to the museum’s collection through a portfolio of acquisitions and commitment gifts. The new work covers a wide range of media and time periods, plus museums’ focus on European, American and Chinese art.
Highlights include one of the parabolic lens sculptures by Fred Eversley; Jean-Michel Basquiat’s 1981 paintings; Mary Cassatt’s paintings Jenny’s mother takes care of her children;Three works by Rashid Johnson (movies, paintings and sculptures); and three new blue and white porcelains from the Qing Dynasty.
The Norton Museum of Art, the largest institution in Florida, reopened in 2019 after a massive renovation of the Pritzker Prive and won the company Foster + Partners of architect Norman Foster. The new building adds 12,000 square feet of gallery space, as well as a sculpture garden. The current exhibition includes “The Artist’s Jewelry: From Cubism to Pop, Diane Venet Collection”, which includes wearables from artists such as Picasso, Dali, Jeff Koons and Alexander Calder, as well as “Naked Scale,” which contains photos of Leslie Hewitt.
