Predicting Dreams: Sculpture of Katsuyo Ayoki

The decorative nature of other decorative art quotes in my work is not challenging. This is my own expression as an excellent artist. ”

But Katsuyo’s work seems a little out of place compared to Hirst and Koons, which is a little awkward, accustomed to demonstrating all of our attitudes, embellishments and technical sympathy for law enforcement officers of minimalism and deconstructionism. One of the main differences between her decoration and Hearst’s diamond skull and Koons’ porcelain Michael Jackson is her altruism, which is her lack of cynicism and self-reference that makes the aforementioned work so iconic.

In the artist’s statements, she acknowledges that her style and those decorative traditions drawn from words, but also “convene us, we can almost be described as religion.”

Although her work seems to be on the verge of the ornamentalism it adopts, Aoki doesn’t really get involved in the narrative of the artwork. She seemed shocked by the potential of the medium and the richness of art history.

For example, when I point out that certain styles she mentioned (especially Rococo) were criticized as frivolous, stale and ruthless, even if she hired it to evoke a sense of spirit, she said, “I think, “I think, to define it as natural, vulgar and speclovely itself to understand the current art, is a superficial understanding.”

Her altruism is her technique. She used several methods of manipulating porcelain, a notorious material of intolerant. By throwing, trimming, building, casting and slipping, she eventually pulled out an object that could only be produced from an expert’s understanding of the process.

When I asked why she was determined to challenge the boundaries between fine arts, decorative arts and crafts, she replied: “In fact, I wonder why there are still people bent over, I don’t understand this

The difference between them. The decorative nature of other decorative art quotes in my work is not challenging. This is my own expression as an excellent artist. ”

Without this sensibility, she could not make art. It’s not easy to make beautiful things in a cynical way. Only passionate about what she does and belief in her correctness can only be devoted to the care that makes the sculpture strong.

In Aoki, it is possible to return to the old, less abstract way of thinking, where giving craft is a given position and there are not so many boundaries of thought between physics and spirit. Her work shows that it is time for the art world to dislike and dislike of idealism and metaphysics, and to apply some classic concepts to our latest, ironic and uncertain views.

“As for myself, the classical style and crafts are quite fresh and interesting. Intuitively, I think they contain a good element to express when I am aged.” *
