I did recruit helluva for a long time and I made a living every year with a few exceptions. What I want to tell you is absolutely correct.
Recruiters know you don’t know: The importance of tailoring
Recruiters know that job seekers don’t seem to know that they aren’t that effective. You can discover this by looking at the data. Between applying for jobs and recruiting staff, 30% of positions are filled between both categories. Now, I see the numbers from job ads at about 22% and the numbers from recruiters at 8%. I know some recruiters use job ads, so I just put the whole two categories together, but they aren’t that effective.
What works? Online, do not apply for online jobs. networking. However, most of you spend 60% of your time applying for jobs and very little time networking. You seem to spend a lot of time complaining that you are not getting results. That’s why you don’t get results. You are not talking to people you know to get to know people they know and they may help.
