Cathay Pacific brings back Seattle flights, starting at 70,000 miles from business class

Cathay Pacific will return to the northwest Pacific.
The Hong Kong-based airline announced on Monday that it would bring back uninterrupted flights to and from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) starting next spring.
It will mark the return of a route between Seattle and Asia that disappeared during the coronavirus pandemic and never returned – that is, so far.
Cathay Pacific will bring its Seattle service back to Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) starting March 30, 2026, traveling back and forth five times a week.
Immediately, flying should be a popular choice for travelers with a few miles of hiding. Cathay Pacific is a partner of American Airlines and Alaska Airlines, a Seattle-based hometown of Alaska.
This means our travelers can redeem their airline miles on Cathay Pacific flights to Asia and beyond, including a TPG employee who has already earned a business-class seat next summer!
Plus, you can transfer points from several major credit card plans to the Cathay Pacific program, which is known for its strong redemption value.

New flights between Seattle and Hong Kong
Cathay Pacific’s new flights from Seattle to Hong Kong run weekly – Monday to Thursday and Saturday once the service is launched.
The airline will use its Airbus A350-900 for flights, which comes with 38 Lie-flat seats in its business class cabin, plus 28 premium economy recliners, located on 214 seats in the main cabin.
Here is how the itinerary for spring, summer and fall 2026 is swinging:
- Haikg: Departure at 11:50 am, arrive at 4:45 pm the next day
- HKG-SEA: Leaving 1:30 PM, arriving at 10:10 am on the same day
Seattle will be Cathay Pacific’s ninth North American destination, the first since launching uninterrupted service to Dallas Ford International Airport (DFW) earlier this year.
Like DFW, the supply of flights in Seattle is growing rapidly.
In 2025, airlines will offer 41% of seats in the West Coast hub compared to 2024 airlines, in part because Alaska Airlines and its combined partner Hawaiian Airlines began flights to Tokyo and Seoul, South Korea.
Arguably, growth continues in 2025, which is expected to continue in 2025, as Cathay Pacific chose to bring back short flights to Pacific Northwest, which was launched in 2019, but canceled the plane after COVID-19 cuts.
“We are pleased to be able to resume direct flights to Seattle, strengthening our goal to deepen the commercial and cultural links between Hong Kong and the U.S. dynamic technology hub, Lavinia Lau, Chief Client and Business Officer of Cathay Pacific, said in a statement to announce the announcement.
Book a Cathay Pacific flight with points and miles

We’ve seen the tempting (but dispersed) choice for the 2026 summer redemption choices through its network of partners for this Cathay Pacific flight.
Partner Award
As a member of the Oneworld alliance, Cathay Pacific has several global airlines (including the United States and Alaska)
This means you can book reward flights at Cathay Pacific using your Aadvantage miles or Atmos Rewards (Alaska’s new United Loyalty Program and Hawaiian’s new United Loyalty Program).
TPG’s Clint Henderson acted quickly on Monday, earning a one-way business-grade seat from Seattle to Hong Kong in August 2026, earning 75,000 Atmos reward points (plus $18 in taxes and fees).

We also found only 70,000 miles of American business-grade reward space.

This reward space is certainly not extensive, but if you are flexible on travel dates, you may be able to score a lot.

We should also point out that Cathay Pacific’s Cathay Pacific loyalty program also offers great value to our travelers who rarely fly with airlines – it’s easy to earn Asian miles if you have flexible credit card points.
You can transfer points directly from American Express, Bilt Rewards, Capital One, and Citi to Cathay Pacific.
