IHG Reward Points Promotion: Up to three points when staying

One of the most satisfying ways to earn points is to take advantage of hotel promotions. Fortunately, registration is open to a new IHG rewards promotion that will allow you to earn up to three points on the nights between October 1 and December 31. This is what you need to know.

IHG Reward Points Promotion

You can sign up here for a new IHG rewards point promotion to get up from October 1 to December 31.

This promotion will give you any reward points during your first eligibility stay after registration. However, starting with the third eligibility stay, you will earn two points in the second qualifying match and three-point points. With this promotion, you can earn up to 70,000 bonus points in total.

IHG Hotels and Resorts

For this promotion, IHG defines eligible accommodation as one night or more booked at a pass rate, costing more than $30 per night. Nights outside October 1st to December 31st – or the evenings to complete your full stay before signing up for this promotion, please do not count.

Reward nights (including those booking anniversary certificates or IHG points), points and cash accommodation, and the benefits of booking through online travel agencies are not qualified. Finally, each member can only earn double or three points per night in one room, and the reward points you earn through this promotion are not Elite Identity Qualifying Points.

How does IHG calculate double or three points?

It is important to understand how IHG calculates the double and three points of this promotion, because if you have the IHG reward elite status, it may not be as profitable as you would expect.

In short, the base points (but not reward points) IHG earned during a qualifying stay during the promotion period doubled (but not reward points). As a reminder, you can spend up to $10 at the IHG hotel and 5 points at Staybridge Suites and Candlewood suites.

So if you spend $100 on your qualifying stay in Holiday Inn Express, you will earn 1,000 base points. If this is your second eligible stay during the promotion period, you will earn twice the points by earning 1,000 bonus points. Similarly, if this is your third or more time during this promotion, you will earn three points by earning 2,000 bonus points.

If you have an IHG Elite status, you can also follow the usual bonuses based on your status. However, having an elite status doesn’t help you get more points with this promotion, as IHG calculates elite and promotion bonus points based on the basic points you get.

Bottom line

This IHG rewards point promotion isn’t the most exciting or profitable, but it’s worth signing up for the promotion even if you don’t have any IHG continuous plans for the rest of the year. After all, your plan may change and this promotion can earn you IHG points.
