Interview: Assembly line method

A traditional or assembly line interview style can be described as the following characteristics: You knock on the front door called HR (yes, the front door), wait for someone to open it, you walk in, and then chat with them for a while. In some cases, it may still be necessary to do so, especially for large companies, as they do not want managers to be constantly interrupted by phone calls and emails. Also, you may find it difficult to find a manager to start with these companies. As a result, you may have to follow the established protocol.

Many companies require you to respond to posting via email; your resume is evaluated by an applicant tracking system and then a HR professional who may or may not forward your resume to the manager, read it from there and hope they will respond.

Do you understand how boring this is? This is indeed the path many companies want you to take and if you follow it it works, but there are a few things you have to know.

The first question is: How do you make it work For you? Recognizing that assembly line has a flaw, the drawback is that it is usually handled by the human resources department with the least experience and least interest. In an organization in this situation, you will be trapped. You can’t move around. Instead, all you have to do is put your resume into their system, which will make it clear to six-year-olds that you are a qualified person to do the job.

Because of that system and inexperienced, selfless people will be the ones who can scan your resume and pass it on to the people who want to read it, and they will decide whether to hire you. Just like the Old West during the Gold Rush. The prospectors sit by the river, each with a pot. There was a filter on the pot, where they crouched for hours, watching the pot searching for gold.

Well, in our modern example, prospectors may not know what the nuggets would look like, right? What they are doing is trying to make sure the silt passes through the screen and reaches the bottom. OK, so is this person. They may not be able to recognize gold immediately. This is to let the manager decide the final decision. You just want to make sure that you don’t get filtered to the bottom of the pot and the rest is thrown back into the river.

Sometimes, don’t use whips

Although you follow the agreement, it is recommended to try to contact the person responsible for the decision-making – the Hiring Manager. You must consider making them understand you and your expertise. Yes, I might walk up the front door, and Meanwhile, try to reach the back door of the house and try to contact the manager directly. How do you find out who this person is? Here are some simple tips.

The first and recruiter favorite years are calling the company and talking to the receptionist or switchboard operator and asking who they are. How often do you get information? It’s amazing how often it takes.

For companies that aren’t too soon or are knowledgeable, services like LinkedIn and D&B Hoover can give you information about most people in your organization. Remember not to forget former employees as sources of information.

Once you have a name, you can contact that person and say something: “I’m going to work for your company or the company you used to work for. Who is the best person to talk to the position about this position?”

If you do find who that person is, you can be more convinced of their job than the HR Administrative Assistant. You can go through more details with them and you can answer them over the phone and talk to them directly.

They can then hear you, as well as your intelligence and ability, and will be more willing to meet you. That being said, you have to know yourself and your abilities; some people really shouldn’t be calling because their verbal communication may not be enough to do that.

You can schmooze (talk to someone in a vivid and friendly way, usually for Impressed) And connect with these managers to get your interview. If you have the ability to convey a message, then, when you call the manager, you say, “Hi, my name is (your name), I know you want to hire (blank). Can I spend two minutes now, or have a better place later in the day, talk to you, talk to you about my background? My job description is my job.” Do you think their interest might be inspired by that?

I know a lot of people, it’s terrible to do this, but it works. The more you do, the more comfortable you will be.
