Capital One adds new transfer partners: Japan Airlines, etc.

Capital One is adding a wide network of its more than 15 transfer partners. This is good news because a select Capital One cardholder can now transfer miles to two new airline partners and a new hotel partner: Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, Qatar Airways Privileges Club, and I prefer hotel rewards. This makes capital a mile more valuable and provides cardholders with more ways to redeem their own mileage.
Let’s jump into what you need to know.
Who is the new partner?
The new transfer partners are:
Japan Airlines is a Japanese flag carrier and offers excellent premium cabin products. Japan Airlines serves eight U.S. destinations from its hub in Tokyo.
Katar Airways is a flagship operator of Katar and is known for its famous QSuite commercial grade products. With Qatar, you can fly to every corner of the world through its hub in Doha, which serves 11 destinations in the United States.
I prefer the hotel rewards is a hotel loyalty program that includes a range of unique hotels including boutiques and independent hotels. Some of the brands I like under the umbrella include historic hotels in the United States beyond green as well as preferred hotels and resorts. This loyalty program allows you to earn and redeeate points in your stay and earn Elitelike benefits at hotels that you usually can’t do.

What card allows you to transfer capital to your partner a mile?
If you have one of the following cards, you will be able to transfer miles to these new partners:

Information selected by Capital One Spark Miles has been collected independently by Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
Also, if you hold one of one of Capital One’s cash card cards, such as Capital One Tasting Cash Rewards Credit Cards, you can convert the cash backpack rewards into miles at a 1:1 ratio.

Should you transfer your mileage to these new partners?
Qatar Airways Privileges Club
Moving mileage to Qatar Airways Privileges Club may be a great way to ride in QSuite Business Class (one of the best business-class products on the market), with only 70,000 miles from the US to Doha. You can earn enough miles by earning a welcome bonus on your card, such as the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, each of which offers 75,000 miles per reward card after you spend $4,000 in the first three months of your account opening.
However, the British Airways Club is a Capital One Transfer partner, which means you can already convert your mileage to British Airways Avios and then transfer Avios from the British Airways Club account to your Qatar Airways Privileged Club account at a 1:1 ratio.
You can easily transfer AVIO between the seven airline loyalty programs that use this reward currency. Therefore, this new transfer partner option has little impact on your redemption possibilities.

Japan Airlines Mileage Bank
I’m very excited about the increase in Japan Airlines. Currently, Japan Airlines is just a transfer partner for Bilt Rewards, a major transfer point program. The BILT point is transferred at a ratio of 1:1.
The only other way to get these hard-to-earn miles is to fly or transfer them from the Bonvoy Marriott, which has a 3:1 ratio.
That being said, a mile will now be transferred to the Mileage Bank, but the ratio is 2:1.5. Even though this is not a 1:1 ratio, Japan Airlines still operates using reward tables, which means you can get some sweet deals from several major U.S. cities to Tokyo:
- 27,000 miles of economy
- 40,000 miles of advanced economy
- Business Class 50,000 miles
- First-class 110,000-140,000 miles (date depending on date)
So if you want to fly from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Hanida Airport (HND) in Tokyo, you need to transfer:
- 36,000 Capital to Japan Airlines Booking Economy
- 54,000 Capital to Japan Airlines Booking Premium Economy
- 67,000 Capital to Japan Airlines book business class
- 147,000-187,000 Capital is one mile from Japan Airlines (date depending on date)
However, Capital One will offer a 30% bonus when transferring your mileage to Japan Airlines next month, which gives you an almost 1:1 interest rate; technically, a mile worth 0.975 Japanese Airlines miles, or a 40:39 transfer rate. So if you want to book the same flight above in this 30% bonus deal, you need to transfer:
- 28,000 Capital to Japan Airlines Booking Economy
- 42,000 Capital to Japan Airlines Booking Premium Economy
- 52,000 Capital to Japan Airlines book business class
- 113,000-144,000 capital to Japan Airlines one mile (according to date)
Please note that Capital One members who open a new Japan Airlines bank account will have to wait seven days to redeem their miles. Therefore, even if you have not redeemed yet, we recommend registering a mileage bank as soon as possible.

While I was disappointed that the transfer ratio was not 1:1, I was happy to be in Japan Airlines as a transfer partner at a rate that was still respectful. To help you pull some guesses from your reward search, you can use a tool like SEATS. However, you should always confirm the reward on the Japanese Airlines website before transferring your capital for a mile, as the transfer is irreversible.
Japan Airlines is also part of the OneWorld alliance, so in addition to flying from the United States to Japan at a very reasonable reward fee, you can also use the program to book partners in American Airlines, Emirates, Cathay Pacific, and more. Mileage banks use different reward charts for partner flights, so be sure to check out their website for pricing.
I prefer hotel rewards
Now you can transfer capital to a mile ratio of 1:2 to book selected preferred hotel and resort properties, which means you will receive 2,000 bonus points for each transfer of 1,000 miles. Prices range from as low as 15,000 per night and up to 150,000 per night.
Usually, transferring a credit card point or miles to a hotel loyalty program (outside the Hyatt World) will not help you maximize your rewards. But if you find a lot of deals, it might make sense to transfer your capital a mile.
For example, you can currently book a badge hotel in the boutique hotel in the center of Prague in Old Town for $569.47 per night in June 2026, or I prefer bonus points. Since you only need to transfer 15,000 Capital to book this hotel for 1 mile, your value is 3.76 cents per mile.
Since TPG is valuated at 1.85 cents of capital (according to our September 2025 valuation), this is much higher than our valuation, which may be a great way to save you out of pocket.
However, be sure to process the numbers and compare cash costs with points or mileage costs. If you want to maximize your capital, we recommend that you valuate or be above our net valuation.
See where you can redeemed, I prefer the reward night.
Bottom line
Capital One has added three new transfer partners to its already impressive 15+ partners. Qatar and Japan Airlines offer cardholders great options to travel to Asia and beyond, and I prefer to allow you to earn and redeeate points and get the benefits of Elitelike when staying in an independent boutique hotel.
Cardholders will have greater flexibility with more transfer options, making mileage more valuable.
