Beau Miles’ marathon, single-day planting project launches a new forest in Australian fields – Huge

Beau Miles is a nature lover, adventurer, and a self-proclaimed weirdo who makes things out of other people’s trash. Based in Australia, he delves into urban foraging on YouTube channel and wrote a book called Backyard Adventurer, And made many movies, from building a cabin to exploring Sydney’s most polluted river. Myers also happened to plant a prosperous forest within a day.

“No drama, it’s easy to be the hardest thing of my day,” he said. “But it’s also fun, and it’s the way I plan to use my thoughts and body as a force for kindness. It’s practical, difficult, and time and energy that comes with the result.”

Miles planted a tree for 24 hours a minute (1,440 in total), and when he made the initial video, he promised to return every two years to report its progress every two years. In a recent update, he revisited the 2021 marathon program, documenting the wildlife that had moved in, wandering under healthy, young trees and burning a fire with scoffed wood.

“It’s a special day because I really feel like the project has landed,” Miles said. “I had a cup of tea in the new forest, boiled from the water boiled from the forest itself. It’s perhaps the deepest tea I’ve ever had.”

Another video released in July, Miles sets the virtual one-month timer in an effort to turn its streaming channel into a permanent force. With advertising funds, his goal is to buy and plant more trees. Follow him for updates on YouTube, Instagram and his website. (via Kottke)
