American Airlines deploys Boeing 777 on New York-Los Angeles flights

American Airlines brings its generous Boeing 777 back to New York to cross-continental flights.

The airline told TPG Friday that the airline will launch 777-200er on one of its best routes between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) (LAX) this fall.

Among other things, this means you will be able to book their premium economy class on these domestic off-road flights.

Tickets will be available for sale on July 28, and Kennedy’s highest 777 service will be released on October 5.

777 Return to Kennedy International Service

This is an unusual move for Americans. Fort Worth, Texas-based airlines have very limited wide-body jetting times on domestic routes, usually retaining their larger aircraft for Long-Haul International (and Hawaii).

Currently, it has not scheduled cross-border services on twin-stream aircraft at Kennedy International Airport (JFK). This will change in October, while its three Trojan 777 arrives on the route.

What’s behind the shift?

This is a bit complicated, but the short answer is that it will temporarily replace the popular quad-xylose Airbus A321T.

Replace A321T (currently)

As TPG has reported over the years, Americans are making some major changes to their advanced intercontinental services.

The A321T is usually the preferred aircraft for those major off-road flights, with its advanced configuration first being the flagship store and its Lie-flat commercial-class pod.

However, Americans are phased out the A321T (to convert these aircraft into a standard A321 layout) to make room for their all-new Airbus A321XLR, which will feature the operator’s new flagship suite and sliding private doors.

However, there is a dilemma: Airbus is running on XLR delivery, and Americans have not received any of these planes yet.

However, some A321Ts should also be heavily maintained and reconfigured. As a result, the airline plans to continue phase out the “T” configuration (with or without XLR), and the 777 will help fill the gap on domestic routes that have attracted significant interest in premium seating.

777-200 experience

Currently, customers will see 273 seats for Americans 777-200 on some transcontinental flights between Kennedy International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport. The aircraft is one of the airline’s international hosts, with 37 Lie-Flat commercial-grade pods in front and 24 premium economy recliners in the middle of the aircraft.

Bottom line

However, it should make comfortable riding between the East and West Coasts – despite this, it is a unique airline, an airline that doesn’t often fly these large jets on domestic routes.
