Should you get a Capital One Venture X card? What to know

Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is one of the most popular premium travel cards on the market.

While its $395 annual fee is large, the card offers many travel allowances – from an annual lender of $300 purchased through Capital One’s travel booking website to access up to four free authorized users of Lounge – which can easily offset its full-year cost.

The card is promoted from the Capital One Venture Rewards credit card, a proven Capital One product with an annual fee of $95 but can still taste the more expensive products offered by fellow citizens.

Of course, the Venture X is not for everyone. Let’s dig deeper and see who should (and shouldn’t) apply for this card.

Key Capital One Joint Venture X Welfare

Capital One Venture X is currently offering a welcome offer of 75,000 miles when you spent $4,000 to purchase in the first three months of opening an account.

Redeem credits for travel directly through Capital One’s travel booking website or as a declaration of purchase as another trip, the 75,000 miles are worth at least $750.

However, according to TPG’s September 2025 valuation, if you transfer those miles to Capital One’s over 15 airlines and hotel transfer partners, the bonus value will increase to $1,388.

While this may be tempting enough on its own, the card expands on many other valuable everyday benefits:

  • Anniversary bonus: Each account anniversary is 10,000 miles, starting from your first anniversary (travel is worth at least $100).
  • Annual Fee: $395.
  • Authorized User: Up to four authorized users can be added for free.
  • Credit: $300 credits for bookings annually through Capital One’s travel booking website.
  • Earn: Venture X earns 10 miles on hotel and car rentals booked through Capital One’s travel booking website, 5 miles per dollar for flights and holiday rentals booked through Capital One’s travel booking website, and unlimited amounts spent 2 miles per purchase.
  • Global Entry or TSA Precheck: TSA Precheck or Global Groute has a declared credit limit of up to $120.
  • Lounge Access: Cardholders, authorized users, and free access to each visit to Capital One lounge, and up to two guests traveling with cardholders or authorized users, to over 1,300 priority pass lounges worldwide (these policies have changed until February 1, 2026). After that, authorized users will no longer receive free access to Capital One Lounges or Priority Pass Lounges (unless they pay a $125 lounge access fee), and cardholders will no longer allow two free guests to the airport lounge (unless they spend $75,000 on Business X during the calendar year).

Who should get adventure X?

If you are considering using Venture X, let’s narrow down why this card is best for you.

You want simplicity in a quality card

Venture X Credit Card is a premium card that can be used directly. Unlike some other products (providing dazzling statement credits and third-party partners), Venture X makes its allowance relatively simple.

In fact, the benefits Venture X offers, even beginner travelers can maximize, include the aforementioned $300 through the travel portal and annual credit for the 10,000th anniversary mile. Simple math will show that between the annual travel credit and reward miles for each account anniversary, even the $395 annual fee you are already losing. This does not include various other privileges.

The joint venture X also adopts a simple revenue structure, spending 2 miles per dollar on most expenses, and complements the increased revenue rate through Capital One’s travel booking website.

Venture X cardholders can use the growing network of Capital One lounges, including landings in the capitals of Dallasburg International Airport (DFW), Dulles International Airport (IAD), Denver International Airport (DEN), and Reagan National Airport (DCA). You need free authorized users

Venture X cardholders can add four authorized users for free, which is an excellent value proposition for premium travel reward cards.

Authorized users also obtained President Hertz’s circle elite status. By registering through your Capital One account, your authorized users can enjoy the top-level status of Hertz Car Rentals.

Upon registration, it can be accessed through the Capital One website or mobile app, and qualified cardholders will maintain that status level during the quotation period. Please note that registration through the regular Hertz Gold Plus Rewards admission process (for example, on Hertz.com) does not automatically detect cardholders because they qualify for the program and cardholders do not automatically upgrade to the applicable status tier. Other terms apply.

You want some of the best travel protection benefits

This visa unlimited card provides the most comprehensive travel and travel protection in the industry.

This includes cancellation of travel and interruption insurance, travel delay reimbursement, reimbursement of baggage losses, cell phone protection, rental car protection, purchase protection, extended warranty protection and return protection.

Who shouldn’t get adventure X?

While the Venture X is an impressive high-end card, it’s not for everyone. Let’s take a closer look.

You want a strong network of premium lounges now

The Venture X offers extensive travel allowances, but so far it has only three proprietary airport lounges open and a dining concept.

Indeed, despite the ambitious ambitions of Capital One having its own lounge network, American Express has important beginnings in Centurion Lounges at over 20 airports and in the global lounge range, including Priority Pass™ Lounges and Delta Sky Clubs (when flying the same day on Delta).

You won’t travel too much or plan to take advantage of your transfer partner

To truly maximize your Venture X card, you should consider taking advantage of Capital One’s transfer plan.

Capital One has made significant progress in its mileage program over the past few years, including the transition from fixed-rate-only exchange to increasing airline and hotel transfer partners and increasing mileage transfer rates.

If you are not using a transfer partner, the best thing to do is a redemption rate of 1 cent per mile.

Bottom line

Capital One Venture X Rewards credit card is a great choice for those looking for quality credit cards with easy-to-digest benefits.

However, there may be a better option for those looking for cards with better lounges or cards that do not require flexibility for airline and hotel transfer partners.

That said, we think this card is almost effortless for travelers who are more budget-friendly.
