  • Free inspection bag: You and up to four travel companions in the same booking will have a free check bag on domestic flights. On round trip flights, this is a maximum value of $80 per person, so you can use this allowance separately to quickly pay the card’s annual fee.
  • Transfer of savings: Get 25% off on-board Wi-Fi, food and beverages when you pay with your card.
  • Companion Certificate: Earn a certificate to and from the country (48 consecutive statuses unless you are from Alaska or Hawaii) after spending at least $30,000 on your card over the year. The redemption certificate is $99 (plus taxes and fees), and you must book your flight on American Airlines or one of its regional partners.

Earn miles on Citi/AA business

You can give your employees their own cards so that you can earn miles in addition to your own expenses. Miles earned by the primary cardholder and any authorized user card will be deposited into the Aadvantage Business Plan account and can be transferred to the Aadvantage account of the primary account holder or employee.

The Aadvantage program also allows cardholders of all AA co-cards to earn loyalty points, which can help them gain elite status on American Airlines. You will get 1 loyalty point for every dollar you spend on your card.

Additionally, until December 31, both the main cardholder and authorized users of employee cards will receive loyalty to purchases made with employee cards in their respective Aadvantage accounts.

Is the Citi/AA business worth it?

If you drive American Airlines and check the bag frequently, you can easily prove the $99 annual fee for the card (after the first year). However, if you are not committed to American Airlines, you may get more value from other gay cards or business rewards travel cards.
