How does the recruiter decide who to talk to when you get 200 resumes shortly after you post your job? I am Jeff Altman,,,,, Large game hunter. People don’t have my BS job coaches and career advice hiring around the world because they can find jobs and succeed more easily.
They are like doctors. When you go to a doctor and you get sick, they are not going to diagnose what you have right away. They are trying to consider all possible options and are making rules. They will rule out certain possibilities because it does not satisfy all symptoms.
Recruiters go beyond the applicant tracking system that does the initial filtering in almost the same way, and they will process more limited numbers. So maybe they are looking at a hundred, instead of 200 resumes, but trying to disqualify you; they are trying to disqualify the inappropriate person.
How to make yourself obvious? Speak their language. They like the recentness and also like the frequency in your resume. So if they try to find some search terms in your background, they want to see the exact same term in your resume. They want to see it often, why? Because you need to get it through the system that likes it. They like the early days of the document; they like to see it repeat in the document. So for a long time and a short time, they ruled out people. They are disqualifying. They don’t rule you. They want to exclude your identity.
