Porter Airlines did not hesitate to add new flights with American Airlines.

Air Canada will connect the U.S. hub of the U.S. International Airport (MIA) with Ottawa International Airport (YOW) in Ontario and the Phoenix Sky Sky Harbour International Airport (PHX) hub with YOW and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in Columbia, British Columbia.

Porter’s new route will be as follows:

  • Mia-Yow: Three weekly flights on Monday, Friday and Saturday, January 24, 2026
  • PHX is: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, February 7, 2026
  • PHX-YVR: Daily Flights on February 2, 2026

Porter will fly the E195-E2 jets on the new route.

A few days after Porter formed a new loyalty partnership with American Airlines. The agreement allows travelers to earn and redeem American Airlines’ Aadvantage miles on certain porter flights and earn vital loyalty points to elite identity.

Porter also works with American airlines Alaska Airlines and JetBlue.

For Americans, the new Porter Compact fills the gap in its Canadian partner network. Its main competitors, Delta Airlines and United Airlines, are close-range partners of Air Canada Westjet and Air Canada, respectively.

The United States temporarily plans to cooperate with Connect Airways, a startup airline that travels to and from Toronto Billy Bishop City Airport (YTZ). However, Connect will never leave the ground.

While Porter is not facing competition on the new MIA-YOW and PHX-YOW routes, airlines will face Air Canada, Flair Airlines and WestJet on the PHX-YVR route.

In addition to the new routes, Porter will also add flights to two existing U.S. routes: Fort Lauderdale-Gollywood International Airport (FLL) to Ontario’s John C. Monroe Hamilton International Airport (YHM) and Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ).
