1.9 Friday Favorite – Fitness Guru

Hi friends! Happy Friday! Are you OK? What are you going to do this weekend?

We’re just hanging out here and at home, and I’m looking forward to a low-key weekend after a lot of holiday activities and adventures. It’s suddenly winter in Tucson – rainy and cold! – We enjoyed lots of puppies snuggling up to try and stop Lola from destroying all the furniture.

(I always wanted to take a picture of Messi and Lola together, but they always move at lightning speed together)

Liv turned 14 yesterday and I can’t believe it. Big thanks to my OG reader friends who have been there since the early days. Yesterday, a few of you contacted me on Instagram to tell me you were reading this blog while I was teaching Zumba with it rocking in my belly. It feels like yesterday, like the same time 14 lifetimes ago.

Her birth story part 1 is here and part 2 is here.

I post less about my kids on the blog – I ask permission before posting anything – but she is the wittiest, sweetest girl with a heart of gold. She’s also obsessed with K-pop, which is a big reason we went to Seoul this summer. We just had cake at home because we are going to San Diego and Disney next week to celebrate!

Now, it’s time for our weekly favorite Friday party. Here I’m sharing some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love hearing about your favorites too, so shout out your favorites in the comments section below.

1.9 Friday Favorites

Fashionable, beautiful and casual:

Always Rio Farms! They have a lot of great sales this season, but this one is from Rent the Runway. I still use and love the unlimited membership. It’s great for events and travel, and it also helps me avoid shopping *quite a bit. * 😉

Oak essentials great stuff! They gave me body lotion and candles before the holidays and I loved the products so much that I ended up buying more as gifts. This lotion is super hydrating and has a light scent – a bit pine – and I love this candle.

Read, watch, listen:

Don’t miss this week’s podcast episode! I’m sharing some realistic New Year’s resolutions based on longevity.

It’s always cheese board season.

Carving Guild has nutrition now and I’ve been loving the new reipe and meal inspo. I will be adding many of their ideas to our meal plans for next week. If you’ve always wanted to try TSS, it’s one of my all-time favorite home workouts. Use the code GINAJAN here to try it out!

Started this audiobook and already feel like it has had a huge positive impact on my mindset.

Fitness, Health and Food:

– The new food pyramid. Do I think it’s perfect? No. I think there are a lot of people who can’t tolerate or digest large amounts of animal products and dairy. I’m not sure where beans fall on the pyramid, and it ignores the nuances of saturated fat. At the same time, I think this is a big step in the right direction. I like the emphasis on whole, unprocessed foods, lots of fruits and vegetables, and a gentle approach to grains (especially in the U.S., where many of our grains are compromised).

While I don’t think refined sugar and processed foods should be a part of everyday life, we do make room for the fun stuff every now and then (see below, haha).

– These are gluten-free, dairy-free cones. so good.

– Also, I bought some Sweet Loren’s pastries, which are great. This definitely exceeded my expectations, especially since many gluten-free baking options can fail. I made some peanut butter pastries and some pop tarts with strawberry jam, simple frosting and powdered sugar.

(Just add ingredients, egg wash, and bake at 400 degrees for about 14 minutes)

Thank you so much for visiting the blog today! Have a great weekend and see you soon!

XOXO

Gina
