Edge and star power: Inside the Ferragamo spring 2026 show in Milan with Lori Harvey and Solange Knowles

Creative director Maximilian Davis continues his rebranding of Salvatore Ferragamo, launching a resonant Spring 2026 collection during Milan Fashion Week. Davis delves into the brand’s 1920s roots, tapping into the glamor of the Jazz Age not for hip clichés but for its rebellious spirit and cultural shifts. The collection, shown at Milan’s Portrait Hotel, is based on Davis’s research into the “Africa” movement, reported in Vogue, and explores how materials and textiles became symbols of status. This historical lens provides a rich, untapped narrative for a modern luxury audience, positioning the house at the intersection of tradition and modern cool.

Davis uses fringe with calculated precision to create pieces that are both dynamic and marketable. Swinging iterations on maxi skirts create momentum, while shorter versions on sleeves and handbags offer a wearable entry into the trend. This texture is further amplified by flowing, high-value fabrics (flowing silks and delicate organzas), coating the body with an elegant, sensual elegance. The color story elevates brown and gold tones for a chic feel through shiny materials, punctuated by strategic pops of sun-dried yellow and Mediterranean blue.

The front row at the show confirmed the brand’s renewed cultural cachet. Attendees included major influencers Lori Harvey in a custom fringed and sheer dress, Solange Knowles, Naomi Watts, Anna Wintour and Christy Turlington in a leather jacket and skirt. Their presence underscores one of Davis’ major accomplishments: generating buzz and A-list recognition. The collection marks Ferragamo firmly on a dramatic new trajectory under his creative direction.
