This October, global public art projects turn 35 cities into playgrounds — Colossal

This month, urban centers around the world will host large-scale public art projects hosted by Nōvo Collective. Not in service Fifty-four artists were invited to take part in a global initiative that treats cities as playgrounds, inviting participants to “embed playful, overlooked or quietly provocative gestures into the interstices of everyday life.”
In Stellenbosch, South Africa, Strijdom van der Merwe has installed sun-activated textual works showcasing exciting phrases such as “The visible is the shadow cast by the invisible”. Esif painted tiny pieces of fruit on buildings near his home in Valencia, while Wells painted a series of fragmented portraits on top of Munich’s cultural center.
Perhaps the most eye-catching is the timber-framed building built by Nomad Studio in a park in Castile and Leon, Spain. A series of branches appear to fan out in a circular shape, creating a meditative space with an opening to the sky, allowing light to flow inside.
Not in service Throughout October, works by Cannupa Hanska Luger, Jason deCaires Taylor, Stephanie Brown and many others will be on display in a total of 35 cities. See more information on the project’s website.
