As companies start thinking about surviving the recession, they start thinking about creating differentiated products with real customer value. This means they think about what makes them unique, what they can offer their customers that makes them stand out from the rest. Weathering a Recession Your career should follow similar guidelines, which means you have to understand your market.
If you’re one of 200,000 people in New York doing the same thing. You are no different. You are a commodity; you are disposable. But it’s different if you can think of yourself in terms of what you do, and talk about what people hire you to do. That’s one of the things I coach people on. Be able to say “People hire me to…” and fill in the gaps in that sentence.
