United and JetBlue officially begin new partnership

United Airlines and JetBlue’s highly anticipated partnership is official.

The two airlines announced Thursday that their new alliance, called Blue Skies, is now live — starting with earning and redeeming miles.

Starting today, United loyalty members can now earn and redeem MileagePlus miles when flying with JetBlue. JetBlue frequent flyers can earn and redeem TrueBlue points when flying with United.

This is a major milestone in one of the largest domestic airline collaborations we have seen in years.

United and JetBlue first announced their planned partnership back in May, which will provide MileagePlus and TrueBlue members with a wide range of new options to earn and redeem across both airlines’ networks.

“We are pleased to offer our loyalty members access to the program of their choice when traveling across our complementary networks,” the two airlines said in a statement on Thursday.

And, earning and redeeming is just the beginning.

Reciprocal elite status benefits such as boarding, extra legroom seats and same-day flight changes will be available in early 2026, the two airlines said Thursday. This will allow United Premier elites to enjoy complimentary benefits such as JetBlue’s EvenMore product when flying with JetBlue, while Mosaic members will have access to United’s Economy Plus product.

This is JetBlue’s second attempt to partner with a major U.S. network airline, after JetBlue’s Northeast alliance with American Airlines was terminated in federal court earlier this decade.
