Centennial Airlines uniforms are coming hot and fast.

American Airlines is the latest airline to launch its 100-year plan, following Delta Air Lines and Lufthansa. The Fort Worth, Texas-based airline will repaint a Boeing 777-300ER, its largest aircraft, in a traditional livery, returning it to the style of its first Douglas DC-3.

The traditional look, which debuted in November, features an aluminum silver body with a red lightning bolt-like tip line and America’s iconic “AA” eagle logo on the back. “American Airlines” will appear in a small sans-serif font below the first section of the window, while “Flagship” will appear on the upper half of the midplane of the fuselage.

American Airlines’ first flight dates back to the Robertson Aircraft Corporation, which carried mail between Chicago and St. Louis in April 1926 under chief pilot Charles Lindbergh. Parts of Robertson became American Aviation in 1934, later American Airlines.

The airline’s first DC-3, based on a century-old traditional look, took to the skies in 1936.

Delta debuted its own centennial look in March on the Airbus A321neo, with a design that dates back to 1925. Frankfurt-based Lufthansa will unveil its 100th anniversary look on the Boeing 787-9 in December.
