Matthew Day Jackson teams up with Aztech Mountain to launch luxury ski wear collection

Matthew Day Jackson, an artist working in multiple mediums, has contributed 10 artworks to a new 23-piece collection of luxury ski wear from Aspen, Colorado-based ski brand Aztech Mountain.
In addition to being an artist, Jackson is a “passionate skier, cyclist and adventurer,” according to a statement from the brand. His new collection, called Planet Aspen, includes ski jackets, pants and underwear, all embellished with Jackson’s designs for Aztech Mountain’s first artist collaboration. Prices for the series range from $101 to $1,850.
“While riding chairlifts or skinning up mountains, I’m struck by the silent absurdity of what we do—fragile creatures, drawn to the edge, seeking fleeting moments of joy in places that care little about our presence,” Jackson said in a statement. “In those brief descents, the joy becomes measurable—beyond effort, beyond fear. It’s a dance without an audience, disappearing behind us at every turn, leaving only a faint trace in the snow as proof of presence, intention, and presence.”
“Matthew’s ability to capture the essence of movement, presence and beauty aligns perfectly with how we think about skiing,” said Aztech Mountain co-founder Heifara Rutgers. “It’s about creating something that embodies both artistic expression and mountain performance.” “
Jackson joined Pace Gallery in 2022 after more than a decade at Hauser & Wirth, and in 2023 had exhibitions at Pace Gallery’s New York and Seoul branches. That same year, he collaborated with design brand Made by Choice to create a lounge chair out of rainbow-colored plywood and custom Formica laminate.
