Use your new Amex Platinum Resy points to book 10 restaurants

In September, American Express announced a new $895 annual fee American Express Platinum Card® (See Rates and Fees) – A 29% increase from the previous annual fee of $695. Even loyal cardholders are questioning whether the current highest annual fees on major consumer credit cards are justified.

However, an expanded set of benefits* — including $75 in quarterly credits (up to $300 per year) at Lululemon U.S. stores (excluding directly owned stores) and online, up to $300 in hotel credits every two years (every six months, up to $600 per year), and $120 in bill credits (per calendar year) for Uber One membership (which automatically renews) — help ease the pain.

For restaurant lovers, though, the most compelling addition may be Resy Points. Platinum members can now earn up to $100 in bill points per quarter (up to $400 per year) when they dine at participating U.S. Resy restaurants and pay with their Platinum Card. (No appointment required.)

With thousands of award-winning restaurants on the platform—from neighborhood gems to Michelin-starred destinations—we’ve rounded up the best ones to make your quarterly points even more valuable.

What is the quarterly $100 Resy Points for Amex Platinum?

Platinum cardholders can earn up to $100 in bill points per quarter (up to $400 per year) that can be used at eligible U.S. restaurants on Resy. Although Resy is a booking platform, you don’t need to book to use your points. Use your Platinum Card to pay at participating restaurants and points will typically appear on your bill within a few days.

(this American Express® Gold Card Similar Resy points are offered up to $100 per year (split into two $50 points twice a year) at participating U.S. Resy restaurants, and certain Delta Amex cards now offer similar benefits. )

You’ll need to sign up through your American Express account before dining, and note that unused funds don’t carry over, so it’s worth planning a delicious meal each quarter. With over 10,000 restaurants on Resy, there’s no shortage of options to choose from at home or while traveling.

Penny, New York City

One of the surprising things about Penny, a 31-seat seafood counter and raw food bar in New York City’s East Village, is how chef Joshua Pinsky and his team manage to make something as seemingly simple as a shrimp cocktail so extraordinary. From stuffed calamari to dessert ice cream sandwiches, every dish at Penny strikes that magical balance of understated and memorable. Start with a sesame brioche and icebox – a plate of oysters, clams, mussels and shrimp cocktail, plus a rotating meatloaf – paired with a glass of wine from the Michelin 2024 Sommelier Award winner.

Maximize Resy Points

Be sure to use the full quarter’s $100 credit toward a single meal charge. If your bill is less than $100, you won’t be able to get the difference later, so plan to use it all at once. Since there are so many Resy restaurants, it’s worth checking carefully before swiping your American Express Platinum card.

bottom line

Resy points on the American Express Platinum Card are one of the easiest (and tastiest) ways to offset the card’s high annual fee. If you plan ahead and use up $100 each quarter, you can turn your points into four meals a year at some of the best restaurants in the country.
