Ahead of its official opening in January, IHG and Kimpton are ready to reveal an exciting new hotel in New York City: the Kimpton Ashbell New York Park Avenue Hotel.
Located in a historic 1928 building on Park Avenue near Grand Central Station, the new Kimpton hotel is a replica of the 70 Park Avenue hotel. The hotel, which carries the Kimpton brand identity, has been undergoing an extensive transformation, bringing its 205 guest rooms, suites and public spaces into a new era.
The interiors, designed by Busta Studio, are bright, fresh, and welcoming with a subtle touch of luxury that evokes the neighborhood’s chic, picturesque townhouses and tree-lined streets during the Gilded Age. Guest rooms will feature custom-designed furniture and millwork headboards, and a selection of rooms will feature views of the majestic Empire State Building.
The restored common areas include the foyer, living room and family room, where visitors can find a carefully curated art collection and “one-of-a-kind expressions of reinterpretation of Manhattan townhouse living today,” according to a statement Kimpton shared with TPG.
The hotel will offer a dining experience – Park & Bel, a café that changes throughout the day. It becomes your local coffee shop in the morning and then the perfect place to enjoy a charcuterie board and a glass of wine in the afternoon. Speaking of wine, in true Kimpton fashion, the hotel will offer a daily afternoon wine happy hour in the lobby.
“Our vision for Kimpton Ashbel was to create a thoughtfully designed residence in the heart of Manhattan that is sophisticated and timeless, warm and welcoming,” Kimpton Ashbel general manager Brenda Correa said in a statement. “Guests can savor fine dining, linger by the fire, or retreat to tranquil rooms overlooking Park Avenue. Every touchpoint is thoughtfully designed to promote comfort, connection and pleasure.”

The new Park Avenue Kimpton hotel will join the family of other Kimpton-branded hotels in America’s largest cities. In Chelsea, the Kimpton Hotel Eventi is located 54 stories above Sixth Avenue. Located near Times Square, the Kimpton Theta New York welcomes guests who want to experience the lights and dazzling shows of Broadway.
Next year, a fourth Kimpton hotel, the Kimpton Era, will bring 529 rooms to a new 33-story building near Rockefeller Center.
