How to find a remote job. That’s what this video is about. I’m Jeff Altman, big game hunter. I am a professional leadership coach. I have worked in recruitment around the world and held a number of full-time roles and consulting assignments. In the work I do, I’ve created a huge repository of information on my blog at TheBigGameHunter.us. You can go to the blog, there are a lot of things in there that can help you. Additionally, you can learn about my courses, books and guides I’ve written on my website at TheBigGameHunter.us, where you can schedule a free discovery call, or schedule a coaching time so I can help you. I would also like to mention that you can connect with me on Linkedin at linkedin.com/in/TheBigGameHunter. For most of you, my network will be much larger than yours, and this will be a way you can expand your network significantly.

So the first thing I’ll say is, when you think about remote work, most people go to fairly traditional job boards. But I want you to take a step back. There are two videos I want you to watch and I’ll link to them in the show notes. The first is called “Finding Remote Work Jobs. The second is Finding Remote Work: Becoming a Digital Nomad” and I interviewed two experts. There’s a lot of great material out there. So I think that’s a good place to start. I will provide links to both videos in the show notes.

Now, there are also some places posting remote jobs online. I want to remind you that when you start exploring, you don’t have to look for any one specific region or area. Like most of you, especially in the United States, have a habit of researching local geographic areas and trying to find remote jobs. But the idea is that you can work from anywhere in the world. So why focus on just a few things in Northern California or South Florida? You can be anywhere. You can work for an overseas company and get paid well for your job. Again, don’t just focus on your own geographic area or region, but look elsewhere.

Job sites you can access include LinkedIn, and in the geography drop-down area you can specify remote working. There is a website called Jobspresso. Just like work stress. J- OBSPRESS-0, remoteok.io, Flexjobs (a site I have used for years) and support, Weworkremotely.com, remotiv, such as remotiv.io. Skipthedrive.com, Virtual Careers. I’m going to repeat that. VirtualVcations.com and remote.co. These websites all host a large number of remote jobs related to them.

You can also find communities online that you can connect with that offer access to remote work. For example, there are Facebook groups, Slack channels, such as work from home, remote work and remote work.

There is a site like indiehackers and they have a lot of stuff from a technical perspective. But in the current version of the website, in the right column, there is an area with remote working. LinkedIn, I believe I was referring to the drop down list. Yes, I already mentioned that. Reddit channels, Online Jobs, Digital Nomads and Work from Home can help you, angellist.co is a startup website, and there are many other channels. Some companies look for remote workers from there. Xing, spelled Xing, is for those looking for work in Germany, Switzerland or Austria.

Creative dribbling (DRIBBLE). Of course, there are services like Fiverr (FIVERR), Upwork, and Freelancer that allow you to work remotely. You are not an employee, you are basically doing odd jobs. So these are your choices.

Additionally, you can connect with professional recruiters who specialize in working with individuals looking for remote jobs, I wouldn’t recommend anyone for fear that one of you won’t have a good experience and just start documenting the bad experiences you had. Often, it’s not their problem but their customers’ problem. So, look for dedicated recruiters online.

Go into your network and get referrals and remember, beyond working remotely, what you really need is to understand what are their expectations of you, what time zone do they want someone to work in, do they want someone who works outside of the 9 to 5 schedule where you live? Do you think it’s ok?

There are hashtags for Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, Pinterest of all places, #remote, #remotework. So, you can search for something on these three platforms where you will find remote jobs. Again, the hashtags are #remote and #remotework.

You can find something that works really well in the full-time market and I believe it will work really well. It’s the kind of job where you identify a business and find gaps in what they’re doing. You know, a classic example is, for people who specialize in SEO, you’ll find that organic traffic doesn’t flow to the company’s website. Therefore, you can sell yourself to the organization by identifying gaps in the business.

Now, from their perspective, they want to see that you are someone they can trust. Beyond the interview, beyond the conversations you have with them, one of the ways you have to anticipate what they’re going to do is by looking at your social media presence. Therefore, make sure that it meets the standards of the work you will be doing for the organization. This way, they can validate you and your ability to serve them. Again, remember that there are many people who have come before you who are not as trustworthy as you. They don’t know this. They just heard the stories. So you always want to make sure that you can stop these stories from affecting you.

I hope you find this helpful. I’m Jeff Altman again, Big Game Hunter, and when I was searching, I started being called the Big Game Hunter. I have done leadership and employee search for many organizations and have done so for a long time. Likewise, I have a lot of content on my blog at TheBigGameHunter.us. Plus, you’ll find information on when my courses, books, free discovery calls are scheduled, or coaching is scheduled so I can help you directly. Finally, please connect with me at LinkedIn.com/in/TheBigGameHunter.

I hope you have a great day and most importantly, be well behaved. careful.
