Rebook Marriott Rewards to save points with dynamic pricing

It’s easy to book a trip months in advance and then not check your reservation again until you’ve checked in. But if this is how you typically travel, you’ll likely be left with points, miles, and cash. This is because you can (and should) check regularly to see if prices have dropped.

You can capture price drops on paid and award bookings with many plans’ flexible cancellation policies. But in this article, we’ll consider how and why Marriott Bonvoy Reward Nights are repriced.

Why Reprice Marriott Reward Nights

Since Marriott Bonvoy launched dynamic award pricing in 2022, award rates have fluctuated based on the hotel you book, the dates of your stay and the time of booking. Therefore, the cost of a specific Marriott Bonvoy Award Night may go down (or go up) after you book it. But if you just book your accommodation and forget about it, you’ll miss out on any potential price reductions.

Some tools, like Rooms.aero, let you set alerts for lower reward prices.

However, especially since I don’t typically stay at a specific hotel during any given stay, I do manually check and reprice my own stays. Along the way, I check the paid and award rates at the hotel I booked and other nearby hotels. By doing this, I have the opportunity to save more points or cash on my stay.

On the next page, select the Points option instead of Free Night Awards (unless you want to use Free Night Awards). You’ll see a notification stating how many points will be credited to your account (or will be withdrawn if you rebook at a higher price). If you would like to rebook at the new rate, please click “Submit Changes” to confirm the changes.

You can also switch to a paid rate through the same process. However, if you want to reprice or switch to a paid rate, I recommend canceling your stay and rebooking after clicking through the online shopping portal.
