Best Western Rewards: Your guide to points, elite status, and more

Best Western Rewards is a program that many travelers overlook. After all, it’s not a transfer partner for any major credit card rewards currencies, and its elite benefits are minimal. However, the program includes luxury WorldHotels hotels, value-oriented SureStay Hotels, and Best Western hotels and resorts, and you can earn and redeem points at various price points. Here’s what you should know about Best Western Rewards.
Best Western Rewards Hotel Brand
Best Western Rewards offers three product portfolios that include the following brands:
- Best Western Hotels & Resorts: Aiden by Best Western, Best Western, Best Western Plus, Best Western Premier, BW Premier Collection, BW Signature Collection, Executive Residency by Best Western, Glo, Vib and @Home by Best Western
- SureStay Hotel: SureStay, SureStay Collection, SureStay Studio and SureStay Plus
- world hotel group: WorldHotels Crafted, WorldHotels Distinctive, WorldHotels Elite and WorldHotels Luxury
Best Western acquired WorldHotels in 2019, adding some more luxurious hotels to the Best Western Rewards portfolio. Meanwhile, Best Western created SureStay Hotels in 2016 as a white-label portfolio aimed at attracting value-conscious travelers.

Best Western Rewards Elite Status
Blue is the base level of Best Western Rewards membership, but you earn Best Western Rewards elite status when you meet certain qualifying stay thresholds within a calendar year:
- gold: 5 qualifying nights
- platinum: 7 nights of qualifying stays
- diamond: 15 qualifying nights
- Diamond Picks: 25 qualifying nights
Once you have accumulated enough qualifying nights in a calendar year to earn a specific Best Western membership, you will maintain that membership for the remainder of the current calendar year and throughout the following calendar year. So if you stay 15 qualifying nights in 2025, you will maintain Best Western Diamond status until December 31, 2026.

The perks of Best Western elite status are minimal. However, Gold members and above receive complimentary water and 500 bonus points upon arrival at participating hotels (bonus points are not available at certain international locations), and Platinum members and above receive early check-in and late check-out (both subject to availability). In addition, Best Western Rewards elite members receive the following bonus points on qualifying stays:
- gold: 10% bonus
- platinum: 15% bonus
- diamond: 30% bonus
- Diamond Picks: 50% bonus
Finally, Best Western offers generous tier match offers that allow members to match any other hotel elite tier. Best Western will consider the number of nights you need to earn elite status in other programs, so you’ll want to match the hotel elite status you have that requires you to earn the most nights.
If you live in North America, you may send an email containing your full name, address, email address, phone number, Best Western Rewards membership number and other proof of hotel program elite status to StatusMatch@bestwestern.com. Proof of elite status for other hotel programs may be a copy of the other program’s membership card or account statement, provided it contains your full name.

How to Earn Best Western Rewards Points
Earning Best Western Rewards points can be difficult because the program doesn’t work with any major transferable currencies. However, as you will learn in this section, there are still ways to earn them.
Stay at Best Western
You can earn points on pre-tax rates for stays at Best Western hotel brands, unless you book through an online travel agency or travel agency, or book a non-qualifying rate, including employee rates, wholesale rates, crew rates and discounted extended-stay rates of 30 nights or more.
Specifically, you can earn 10 points per $1 spent at most Best Western Rewards hotel brands, but only 5 points per $1 spent at SureStay Studio by Best Western, Executive Residency by Best Western and @Home by Best Western hotels.

Points can be earned on up to 10 rooms per stay in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean; points can be earned on up to 3 rooms per stay in other locations, provided you stay in one of the rooms, pay for all rooms, members in the room do not claim points, and you tie your Best Western Rewards number to the room at the time of booking or stay.
If you travel as a group, you can earn points for up to 10 rooms per stay in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean, and up to 3 rooms per stay elsewhere. However, only the booker can decide which members receive points.
Best Western Rewards Credit Card
Best Western Rewards offers two co-branded credit cards: the $89 annual fee Best Western Rewards® Premium Visa Signature® Card and the no-fee Best Western Rewards® Visa Signature® Card.
Best Western Rewards Premium Visa Signature Card and Best Western Rewards Visa Signature Card information is independently collected by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Use the Best Western Rewards Premier Visa Signature Card to earn 10 points per $1 spent at Best Western accommodations, 4 points per $1 spent at gas stations and grocery stores, and 2 points per $1 spent on all other purchases. In addition, cardholders can earn up to two free night awards per anniversary and automatically enjoy Platinum Elite status.
Meanwhile, the no-annual-fee Best Western Rewards Visa Signature Card earns 4 points per $1 spent on Best Western stays and 2 points per $1 spent on all other purchases. In addition, cardholders automatically receive Gold Elite status and 10,000 anniversary bonus points, which are great benefits for a card with no annual fee.

Buy Best Western points
You can purchase Best Western points in increments of 1,000 points at 1 cent each. However, you can only purchase up to 20,000 points per day and 100,000 points every 12 months, and points may take up to two business days to post.

New Best Western members must be part of the program for at least 30 days and stay at least one qualifying night before they can purchase points.

How to Redeem Best Western Rewards Points
TPG’s November 2025 valuation puts the value of Best Western points at 0.6 cents each, so you generally want to get at least that value when you redeem your points. Now, let’s look at some of the ways to redeem Best Western Rewards points.
Use Best Western Rewards points to book award stays
Award stays at Best Western Rewards hotels can earn between 8,000 and 70,000 points per night. Prices vary based on a variety of factors, including hotel and dates of your stay.
To view bonus options, log into your Best Western account and check the “Use Bonus Points” box before searching for your property. You can then view the results by map or list and filter by a variety of factors, including distance, airport shuttle, free breakfast and free parking.

Some hotels may offer room types with different incentive fees. For example, on the sample dates I searched, Best Western Hotel Fino Tokyo Akasaka in Japan offered a double room for 28,000 points, a queen room for 32,000 points, and a room with two single beds for 40,000 points.

You can also redeem points for as low as 5,000 points per night through Pay with Points. If you do this, your first 5,000 points will get you $25 off your room rate, and every additional 1,000 points will get you an additional $5 off. When you pay with points, you’ll get 0.5 cents per point, and you can still earn points on the paid portion of your reservation.
Redeem Best Western Rewards points for airline rewards
You can convert Best Western points into airline rewards through the following programs:
- Aeromexico Awards: 1,600 points can be exchanged for 5,000 Best Western points
- Air Canada Aeroplan: 1,000 points can be exchanged for 5,000 Best Western points
- Alaska Airlines Atmos Awards: 1,000 points can be exchanged for 5,000 Best Western points
- Avianca Life Miles: Earn 5,000 Best Western points for 1,000 miles
- Cathay Asia Miles: Earn 5,000 Best Western points for 1,000 miles
- flying blue: 1,000 points can be exchanged for 6,000 Best Western points
- Southwest Express Rewards: 1,200 points can be exchanged for 5,000 Best Western points
TPG’s November 2025 valuation values Best Western points at 0.6 cents each and those airline awards at 0.8 to 1.55 cents each. Therefore, you almost always lose value when converting Best Western points to airline rewards.
Redeem Best Western points for gift cards
You can redeem your points for Best Western eGift Cards at the following prices:
- $10 Best Western eGift Card: 2,000 points
- $25 Best Western eGift Card: 5,000 points
- $50 Best Western eGift Card: 10,000 points
- $100 Best Western eGift Card: 20,000 points
- $250 Best Western eGift Card: 50,000 points
As you know, when you redeem your points for Best Western gift cards, you get 0.5 cents per point.

You can also redeem Best Western points for US Digital Select gift cards, 16,000 points for a $50 gift card, 32,000 points for a $100 gift card, and 64,000 points for a $200 gift card. However, when you redeem Best Western points for US Digital Select gift cards, you only get 0.31 cents per point.

Transfer Best Western points to other members
You can transfer up to 150,000 points to another member per rolling calendar year. However, you can only transfer points in 1,000-point increments, and your account must have been in existence for at least 30 days and not be restricted.
Best Western Rewards must review and approve transfers over 70,000 points, so it’s best to keep your transfers to 70,000 points or less.
Donate Best Western points
Finally, you can donate your Best Western points to selected charities, including the American Red Cross, Canadian Red Cross, Hero Hotels, Best Friends Animal Society and two Best Western for a Better World programs.

Most donations are worth $2 in 500 Best Western points, with a redemption rate of 0.4 cents per point.
