Chase Sapphire Lounge in Hong Kong will close in January 2026

Chase’s network of airport lounges is about to get a little smaller. Sapphire Lounge by The Club at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), the first venue in the Sapphire Lounge portfolio to debut, will close early next year, the publisher has confirmed.

Chase confirms Hong Kong Sapphire Lounge will close in January

A notice on the Chase lounge directory shows that travelers passing through HKG will soon be unable to use the lounge. The lounge, set to open in 2022, is Chase’s first move into premium airport lounges, paving the way for more lounges in the U.S.

Chase has not yet provided details about why it is closing the lounge or whether it is considering replacing the space. At this time, there is no indication that the closure is temporary or part of a planned relocation, other than that the lounge will be leaving the Sapphire Lounge network in early January.

What impact will the closure have on the use of Hong Kong VIP lounges?

HKG’s Chase Sapphire Lounge will continue to operate normally until January 4, 2026, so Sapphire Reserve cardholders and Priority Pass members will still have access to the space until it officially closes.

After January 5, travelers accustomed to visiting the lounge will lose one of the airport’s more comfortable premium lounge options, meaning cardholders will need to go to HKG’s other lounges. But the good news is that Hong Kong International Airport has one of the richest lounges in Asia.

Where to go for Sapphire Reserve and Priority Pass members

Travelers should not be left without options. Priority Pass members still have many options at HKG, including:

bottom line

The Hong Kong Sapphire Lounge — the first Chase Sapphire Lounge to open — will close on January 5, 2026, according to Chase. There’s no word yet on what the space will look like or whether different lounge options will be offered to Chase cardholders.

While this marks the end of Chase’s first international lounge, the network continues to grow in the U.S., offering cardholders a range of premium airport experiences.
